Herb Stop is a locally owned small business out of Pine, Arizona that offers the Aroma Box, a monthly essential oils subscription box.  Master Herbalists Leilah Breitler and Natalie Hajdu strive to ensure that all their ingredients come from reliable and ethical sources.  Love that!  And, all their essential oils are 100% pure.

For the phenomenal price of $19.99 (including shipping!!!!) you get 4 bottles of essential oils (1/3 oz or 1/6 oz each), essential oil blends or roll-on essential oil  blends.  Along with your aromas, you will receive a description of each oil, 3 tips on using each oil, as well as any safety information.  Seriously, it’s just $19.99 for all of this!

This card stock sheet gives you a detailed description of each of the oils.

Each oil is described and then it gives you an aromatherapy tip, a tip from Leilah (the Master Herbalist), a tip from Natalie (the other Master Herbalist), and any safety precautions.  There is a nice color picture of each herb and the details are easy enough for the newest essential oil enthusiast to under stand (I’m referring to myself here).  I am keeping all of these in a file for reference.  They have some great information!

May Chang (Litsea) 1/3 oz was the first oil in the box.  A full size bottle (1/2 oz) is $6.80.  “You might think this is Lemongrass, but it’s actually May Chang – often referred to as Litsea!  This stimulating and vibrant scent has been used for a wide variety of ailments including inflammation, depression, stress and as an insect repellent.  May Chang appears in this month’s Aroma Box because of its use for respiratory issues including bronchitis and asthma as well as its anti-septic properties.”

I liked the Aromatherapy Tip from the information sheet for this oil because it recommends that you combine May Chang with Cypress (which was featured in their June 2016 Aroma Box).  The tip says that the combination of a few drops of the two oils in a diffuser is an excellent respiratory blend.

I loved the bright clean scent of this oil.  I sprinkled a few drops in the carpet in the back of my car and it smells wonderful.

The next oil in the box was Cajeput (1/3 oz).  A full size bottle (1/2 oz) is $8.40.  “The complex scent of Cajeput might remind you of another oil?  Often referred to as “White Tea Tree”, this essential oil is closely related to Tea Tree oil.  This oil is said to produce a sense of warmth and quickens the pulse.  It can also be used as an insect repellent for lice and fleas!  Cajeput has earned a spot in this month’s Aroma Box because of its traditional use for colds, respiratory infections, fever, achy muscles and as a germicide.  By the way, check out this oils beautiful green color!”

Considering all the scary news lately about super lice, Natalie’s tip for this oil is a potential lifesaver!  Natalie recommends that you put a few drops of Cajeput oil on your hair brush before brushing your hair to help ward of lice.  You can also add 30 drops to your shampoo and conditioner bottles.  I’m loving this tip!!  I have 4 daughters, so, you understand that I live in perpetual fear of lice.  Nasty little bugs!!

The third oil in this month’s Aroma Box was Ravensara (1/6 oz).  A full size 1/3 oz bottle is $13.30.  “This pleasant rosemary-like essential oil is used by herbalists for several ailments including shingles (and other forms of herpes), muscle cramps, depression, as well as lethargy.  Ravensara makes a splash in this month’s Aroma Box because of it’s use as an anti-viral, immunostimulant, for respiratory infections including bronchitis and sinusitis, and for use during cold and flu season.”

Leilah’s Tip for this oil was my favorite, “In a small glass spray bottle, blend a few drops of Ravensara, Niaouli (it was in the July Aroma Box), and /or Eucalyptus with some water for a powerful antiseptic spray to use as a room mist and to spray on the bed sheets.”    I have a sick kid in the house, so this is happening now.  Gonna spray everything.

Every Aroma Box has one of these handy roll-ons in it and I am loving them!!  This month’s is Thief Oil (12.95) which combines Clove, Camphor, Juniper, Marjoram, Rosemary & Sage essential oils and then blends them with Grapeseed Oil that is infused with Wormwood, Meadowsweet, Horehound, Angelica, Clove, Camphor, Juniper, Marjoram, Rosemary and Sage.

“The legend of Thief Oil is quite impressive!  The legend says that during the times of the plague there were a small band of thieves that would loot the bodies of the plague victims, but they never caught the plague.  As this recipe has been handed down through generations, many different formulations now exist.  Our thief oil recipe was given to us around 15 years ago by a Rabbi.”

I am rubbing this on everything.  The kids love the smell.  They keep making up boo-boos to get more.
