Cairn is a monthly subscription box for those who love spending time in the outdoors. Each month, you can expect to receive 3-6 cool products that will help you enjoy your time in the outdoors even more. Subscriptions cost $25 each month, but the cost goes down with longer subscriptions. Cairn promises that the total retail value of the items in each box will exceed $35. Subscribers receive free shipping on their subscription boxes. Cairn tries to assemble their boxes with some basics in mind, such as gender and interests. As such, it’s possible that not everyone who subscribes will receive the same box that I did.
Cairn has great packaging! I love the inspirational quote on the box, “If a tree falls in the woods, be there to hear it.” I also enjoyed the quote on Cairn’s paper. Overall, the box looks very well put together.
Here’s everything in my Cairn September 2016 subscription box.
I can’t wait to use all of these products: a collapsible water bottle, a LED light, sunscreen, fruit candies and a hydrating powder.
I love this inspirational photo from Zion National Park! I loved Zion when I visited as a child and can’t wait to return with my own family someday. Hopefully, it’ll be sooner rather than later!
I appreciated the curator’s notes about each of this month’s featured products.
I always enjoy receiving reusable water bottles, so I appreciated receiving this cool looking 21 Ounce Reusable Bottle From Hydaway ($20). This 5.8-ounce bottle is completely collapsible, so it takes up little room when empty. I like how Hydaway’s design allows you to attach the bottle to your pack or your pants with a carabiner, freeing up more pack space for other gear.
INOVA’s Blue LED Squeeze Light ($4.99) is a great tool to have on hand daily. I plan to attach mine to my keychain. This LED is easy to use, and I like the blue color it emits.
Aloe Up’s Pro Ultra Sport SPF 50 Sunscreen ($3.25 based on the cost of 4 ounces) is a chemical sunscreen that also contains 35% aloe vera gel. My skin absorbed it quickly and easily. It’s water resistant for up to 80 minutes and promises not to run.
Skratch Labs Raspberry Fruit Drop Energy Chews ($2.45) were absolutely delicious! My daughter and I finished the bag off very quickly. I was pleased that these are made with fruit and don’t contain caffeine. They tasted like the perfect raspberry gummy.
Even though they taste like amazing candy, these were actually designed with the athlete in mind: it’s critical for athletes to consume carbohydrates during intense, prolonged exercise to maximize performance. These fruit drops make getting adequate carbs easy and yummy.
Although I was initially less excited about trying the Skratch Labs Exercise Hydration Mix with Lemons and Limes ($1.95), I’m glad I tried it. It was delicious too!
I preferred this mix to Gatorade. It was sweet without being too sweet and did not leave an aftertaste in my mouth. Each packet dissolves into 16 ounces of water.
I loved my first box from Cairn! I thought all of the included products were useful to just about anyone. I know my family will enjoy using them daily, both on our adventures and at home. My only small concern is that the value of the items in this box didn’t reach the $35 threshold touted by Cairn. I’ll try to keep an eye out for this as the subscription progresses. I can’t wait to see what they send us next month!
