Beauteque offers two ways to get your fill of (mostly) Korean beauty products each month: BB Bag contains 6-8 full-sized products such as makeup, skin care, body care, and more for $24 per month; Mask Maven brings you 9 different masks for $15. Both subscriptions are offered in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month terms that will automatically renew until cancelled. The following is a review of September’s Mask Maven, whose theme is Modern Maskinista.

My masks were in a cute drawstring bag. I received 9 masks for the month of September.

The information card has an explanation of each item’s purpose and key ingredients along with basic directions. Only two of the masks I received had the ingredients listed on the package in English. NOTE: I was unable to find the full ingredients for any of these masks on the Beauteque website.

This month there was an insert that included a calendar for The Mask Maven 30 Day Plan! This is a great idea since I have a hard time remembering to use my masks up each month. It gave some suggestions for using the masks as well as some other tips. The back of the calendar showed how you can win a month’s subscription by posting to social media.

I wasn’t sure what was up at first glance with this mask but upon further investigation the syringe is used to mix up the ingredients fresh to avoid oxidation. Wellage Vitablue Injection Mask ($3.50) contains hyaluronic acid, snail mucin, and collagen for moisturizing.

Ladykin Lifting Acai Berry Ice Cold Mask ($4.99) is for soothing, anti-aging, and moisturizing the face with various berry extracts. It can be placed in the fridge for a cooling sensation or placed in a bowl of warm water before opening for a warming and soothing effect.

These 2 masks have super cool 3-D packaging! NOHJ Black Intracell Boosting Mask ($2.60) is for removing blackheads and excess oil and foams in between the sheet and your face! I gave it a try and it foamed up A LOT and had a strong citrus scent. NOHJ Calming Intracell Sleeping Mask ($2.60) isn’t quite as fun to use but it does calm the skin and is supposed to have a coffee and lavender scent.

Esfolio Pearl Essence Mask Sheet ($1.99) has pearl powder for it’s brightening effect and is supposed to calm red, irritated skin. Esfolio Snail Essence Mask Sheet ($1.99) has snail secretion filtrate (yep, slime) which is supposed to speed up skin’s regeneration rate and leave a dewy, healthy glow.

Saference F+C Skin-Rx Facial Firming Mask ($2.39) is supposed to be more natural and is “5 free” (free of parabens, dyes, benzophenone, sorbic acid, and benzyl alcohol) and has collagen, pomegranate, and wine extract for their firming properties.

Annie’s Way Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Mask ($1.99) is supposed to increase skin’s elasticity and plump fine lines with hyaluronic acid and natural moisturizing factor. Annie’s Way Tea Tree Anti-Acne Silk Mask ($1.99) has tea tree, white tea, and green tea to provide clarity and radiance and should help clear clogged pores. My teenager tried it out and enjoyed it and the tea tree scent wasn’t overly strong.

Usually the card lists variations in some of the masks but I didn’t notice that this month. Also, the “surprise” mask was gone as well. Most of the masks this month are for hydrating but a couple were for acne prone skin. My skin could be described as aging so hydrating and soothing masks are what my face craves. I loved the addition of the mask calendar to remind me to take time to pamper myself this month. My September bag had a value of around $24.04, which is over the price paid for the subscription. So far all of my masks have been for my face but I hope to see a hand or foot mask in the future!

Beauteque added a “Mystery Beauty Box” prize this month:

On a Side Note:  Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site).  Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. I am as white as a ghost so I can’t comment on that particular effect but hopefully you will experience brighter skin at least. Lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
