Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends deluxe sized product samples and is curated by the editors of Allure Magazine, who choose and test the products themselves. It is $15 a month and if you sign up for a year-long subscription, you will pay for 11 boxes and get the 12th free. The amount of items sent each month varies and you can earn a “referral bonus box” in each month that a friend subscribes using your personal link.

Each box comes with a mini magazine that gives tips on how to use the products, how much the full-sized product costs, and where to purchase.

This month’s theme is “Season’s Best” and these items are designed to help you get ready for the cooler weather ahead.

I received 6 products this month: 2 for hair, 1 for body, 1 for hands, and 2 makeup items. The items were shipped in a plain brown box that contained a glossy red box inside and there was tissue paper for packing.

My daughter can’t get enough dry shampoo so Klorane’s Dry Shampoo with Nettle ($10) is going directly to her (I wash my hair daily and don’t use this type of product). Nettle is a natural astringent that can help reduce oil on the scalp and the starch helps absorb oil and build-up. I did give it a spray and my hair didn’t have that gray cast that I sometimes get with dry shampoo.

I have a nice little collection of Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Masks ($9) thanks to subscription boxes so I’m not in danger of running out! This one smells nice and doesn’t weigh down my hair too much. Rose-hip and almond oils help control frizz, algae extract provides antioxidants, and B vitamins help repair split ends.

Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffer in Freesia Pear ($15) was nice to use in my morning shower for a change. It had a mostly floral scent and was hard at first and softened just a bit after it got wet. It reminded me of rubbing my skin with baking soda, finely abrasive. I wish there was a rope attached so I could hang it in my shower.

Mally Volumizing Mascara ($20) in Black is a classic choice and helps lengthen and thicken lashes yet didn’t clump. I put it head-to-head (or eye-to-eye) against It Cosmetics mascara and thought they had a pretty similar outcome but this one was easier to remove at the end of the day.

Doucce is a new-to-me brand and I thought the Freematic Eye Shadow Single in Kristi ($10) was a nice fall shade. This one is a shimmer but not overly so and can be used as a bronzer, too. I plan on using it in my crease since it was a tad too dark for my lid.

This shadow single has magnets on the bottom so if you have a magnetic palette you can try placing it in there. Here it is swatched on my inner arm.

Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream ($6.46) comes out blue which was pretty cool! No need to worry about looking like a Smurf, the color disappeared after I rubbed this citrus-scented lotion into my hands. Ideal for sensitive or raw hands since indigo is supposed to calm and heal irritated skin.

My October Allure Beauty Box had a value of $70.46! I’m happy with the variety of samples I received this month and feel like they are helpful as the seasons change. I am also glad that they took a break from skin care and sent two makeup items!

Anna, they were both new to me! I plan on taking the hand cream to work because I think my pre-k students will get a kick out of the color!
