Whimsy Mail and Putter Pails is a Canadian subscription box aimed for tweens aged 8-12. Whimsy Mail is geared for girls, and Putter Pails is for boys. This is a review of the Whimsy Mail box, because I may be in my 30s but I’m young at heart. Whimsy Mail ships in a plain cardboard outer box and is packed with brightly coloured paper squiggles. So many squiggles.
Even though this is a box for tweens, it’s still really fun for grownups too!
Each month the packaging tape is patterned, and it’s usually a clue to the theme — I always have fun trying to guess! I’m not sure what this theme is!
This month’s theme is Movie Night In!
The information sheet is always simple and clean, and a fun read.
Pizza Ground Cover I wish I had the room to spread this out and get a good photo — it’s hilarious! It’s a ground cover to sit on in the shape of a pizza. It’s tablecloth sized (and might actually be a repurposed tablecloth!) and pretty roomy.
Starlight Wall Art Whimsy Mail always includes a DIY kit or two. This one includes wooden stars painted with glow in the dark paint to jazz up your movie theater room! They even included fishing wire to hang them up.
Truth or Dare Game If you’re having friends over, it’s fun to have a game to play! They included four sheets of questions (two were the same set) in case you’re like me and terrible of thinking of questions.
DIY Projector I am passing this kit onto a friend of mine, as her kids are obsessed with things like this — this kit, along with a cardboard box, can turn your iPhone into a screen projector! I’m really excited for them to try this, as I’ve seen similar projects on Facebook. This kit includes a magnifying glass to use as a lens as well as a coil of electrical tape to assemble. You can even use the Whimsy Mail box itself to house your projector.
Caramel Corn Oh, my weakness. This caramel corn is covered in white and milk chocolate, Skor pieces, and Reese’s Pieces. I ate half the bag writing this review, and it is SO good. It’s also gluten free!
Whimsy Mail put together another cute theme for September — there were two DIY kits this time, which is awesome if you’re the crafty type! The DIY projects are always age appropriate and are so creative. I love that they always send you absolutely everything you need to do the project!
