Rude Dude Productions September 2016 Subscription Box Review

1981. The creators were Mike Baron and Steve Rude. The book was Nexus. One part victim, one-part hero, Nexus is forced by his dreams to act as executioner of the most violent mass-murders in the galaxy. After 35 years in the comic-book industry, Rude conceived the idea of revitalizing the once popular newspaper comic strip by adapting “Nexus”.

Rude Dude Productions features a monthly comic newspaper, comic book, and artwork from comic industry titan Steve Rude with his signature visually striking storytelling.  Rude’s current project is adapting his classic 1981 strip “Nexus” to comic book format, and a Rude Dude Productions subscription delivers the latest from the world of Nexus.

There are multiple ways you can order from Rude Dude Productions – the digital strip, the Basic Box, and the Premium (signed) box.  This is a review of the “Basic Box.”

The contents!

Newspaper sized comic book.  It’s as big as a newspaper but the paper quality is better.  It’s thicker but still has a good feel (not glossy).  The first story is written by Mike Baron, a man who has been writing comics for a long time.  I own a ton of books he’s written as he used to work for Marvel working on The Punisher.

A look inside at the bonus story.  Rude painted these panels.  Absolutely incredible.

Nexus Comic Book.  Written by Mike Baron with art from Steve Rude.  It’s smaller than traditional comic books but c’mon, the newspaper already made up for that!

Nexus Print.  The amazing looking artwork from the cover is also an 11″x 17″ print.  I like the painted look and the pose from the hero.

This is an interesting subscription service.  There are a lot of options for subscribing and it’s up to you as far as what you are looking for.  There are even limited boxes that include autographed items.
