JustUsBox Subscription Box Review – August 2016

JustUsBox is a new monthly Date Night subscription service coming from the UK. Their mission is to help couples to disconnect from their screens and reconnect with their partner so they could spend an amazing time together. Every month follows a theme and everything is included in the box to help create a date night. This subscription is only £30 per month, or about $39 per month, (but less for longer subscription) and shipping to the US is £25 . They also have a trial box for about $25.

This month’s box is Indian Summer and even with the plastic envelope around the box, I could already smell something very fragrant! I cracked it open just to make sure I didn’t need anything else before the date night!

The box had some damages, but everything inside seemed to be fine. Look at all the gorgeous colours! And something is definitely fragrant in there.

All of that in the box? We are so spoiled! Included are a Henna Tattoo Kit (I bet it comes with pattern, if not, we are not doing it because neither of us could draw to same our own life!), meditation incense and an incense burner, flying wish paper, a Kama Sutra Game, chai tea bag, silk blindfold, a meditation blanket, Holi Powder and love gestures tin. I’m pretty sure we’ll get more than just one date night out of this box! There’s also a “Share your date” to have a chance to get an extra box for free.

In the box, we have a two sided activities sheet (3 activities), an envelop and a date plan. On the date plan, we are provided with some suggestion for music to set the mood, like Jai Ho from the Slumdog Millionnaire soundtrack (Great Movie with a lovely romance, you should see it!)  There’s also some very interesting conversation starters, but most importantly, relax, enjoy your date, love, laugh and lust.

We decided to start our date with a homemade meal, some wine and the box by our side. For giggles, we used the conversation starters while eating. It felt awkward at first (pfff, we don’t need nobody to tell us what to talk about!), but that was sooooo fun! We’ve learn that we were pretty bad at naming Kama Sutra positions, we confirm our favorite meal and that we wanted to travel to Nepal and Bhutan. A great start!

This is so pretty and warm! We wasted no time ripping out the tissue paper to get to the goodies.

Everything in the box, including the big blanket! I’ve seen other boxes and there was different colours of blanket and scarves. So. Many. Activities.

Look at the amazing meditation blanket! So bright, colourful, warm, luxurious! It’s made of a thin and light fabric, maybe polyester? There is no information specifically for this.

We received two Chai Latte Loose Leaf Pyramid by Twinings, but we were drinking wine, so that’ll be for later this month!

Then we opened the envelope.

So on top of the three activities, we also have three types of challenges! Laugh, Love, Lust. At this point, we knew we needed to schedule a couple more dates in the month!

The CHALLENGES

So three challenges for LAUGH! To use with these challenges, the color powder. Such a neat idea! Basically, you ask questions to your partner to see if they know you, and you throw powder at them when they fail. Messy but sounds like lot of fun! We didn’t try it (we’ll wait for when we can play with it outside!), but we did play the question game! 

We could also try Bollywood dance move or Yoga, but we passed on these ones this time!

Once again, there’s three challenges for LOVE! I especially like the second one where you write love gestures for the week to come! It’s a nice reminder that little things count.

Everything needed for the LOVE challenges. The little wooden box is adorable! Once you are done with the love gestures paper provided with this box, you can still use any king of paper and refill the box for an other round! The top has a nice Yin and Yang symbols in gold. The Flying Wish Paper comes with 15 very light sheets of coloured paper and 5 cardboard bases to hold the paper on fire. There’s also a pen and instruction provided. Love this!

And then, we have the LUST challenges!

And once again, everything needed for the three challenges are provided in the box! A 100% silk scarf, and a blindfold by Bella & Roo (custom made for JustUsBox). The scarf is so light and soft, I kept playing with it all evening long! The blindfold is double sided (one side red, the other one has a very pretty pattern) and it’s quite confortable to wear. You can’t peak underneath or see through, a win!

And of course, the Kama Sutra Game of Love!

So on to the ACTIVITIES for this date!

First one was Henna Tattoo

Ganesha Henna Paste Kit. I think something leaked in the box, so everything was pretty sticky. When we looked at it, the top was broken. We will probably try it sometimes next week, once we set up something so it doesn’t get too messy. But this is seriously an activity about trusting the other one! After all, the tattoo fades away only after a couple of weeks, so better not make a smilie face somewhere too obvious!

Second Activity : Couple Meditation

(Sorry for the colour here, night and candles are not the best lighting for taking pictures!) So we set up the blanket on the floor and put two zafu on it, because they’re really comfortable. The blanket was roomy enough for both of us to sit on it, facing each other, hands touching between us.

Some incense and an incense burner were provided to add to the atmosphere, although we didn’t light it. It was fragrant enough to put us in a meditation state and we really enjoy doing “nothing” together! We both love it and we are planning to do more meditation together!

Activity #3 : Kama Sutra Game!

Yes, we cracked it open! Simple, easy to play, and we can play it again and again! It has four different kind of cards. #3 are for different type of embrace, so all about touching your partner, how to acknowledge the other one. Very sensual, not sexual! #4 are for types of massages. One card says to give a neck massage, so still pretty tame. #5 and #6 are a bit more… sexy! So you can play it any way you want, and stop when you want.

We both really enjoy our date! It was nice to have everything planned, but with enough leeway to do whatever we felt like doing! We spend way to much time on our computers these days, so this was a great way to be together, to talk, to laugh, to enjoy each other.

This month’s box was a very sensual one. Something to taste (the tea), something to smell (incense), something to see (oh the colours!), something to hear (the music suggestion), but especially the sense of touch. This box was all about it. Touching the other (henna, the holi powder, the kama sutra, the texture of the silk and blindfold), but also remembering why we are together in the first place, and why we want to keep it that way (the wish paper, the love gestures, the conversation, the date itself), and that spending times together is relaxing (the meditation), fun (all the challenge and the game), and just awesome!

We also like that the content is of very good quality, fun, and reusable. This was their second box and if the quality and the entertainment value stays like what we received, we would definitely recommend to try it at least once. This box is more than the content, it’s also an experience. The challenges are well explained, well thought of and you can do them on the date itself or any other time during the month. Last month was Star Gazing (looked amazing!) and next month’s theme is Pillow and Poetry.

It would also make a perfect gift for Christmas, but if the recipients have kids, don’t forget to give them one or more babysitting vouchers at the same time!
