Game Box Monthly August 2016 Subscription Box Review

Game Box Monthly is a subscription box that comes monthly with a board game for you and your family to play.  These games are always fun and my boys have all had fun playing them the last couple of months.

The subscription comes in a plain box with the GameBox sticker and I noticed right away that this was a larger box than we’ve gotten the last couple months and I could see when opened that one of the games was a bigger box. We also are getting two games this month versus the one game the last couple of months.

Four Taverns ($19.16) – The title of this game screams adult game which requires some adult beverages while playing however once I really looked into there are a lot of things to keep up with so I’m thinking adult beverages may not be the best choice when playing. My husband loves these kind of role playing games so we will grab this one out one night when we have some time to really play.

Where DO Adventurers Gather? Why, at the finest Taverns of course. It seems that the most dashing of Heroes always seem to start and end their adventures in their favorite Tavern. With a little gold and a lot of luck, yours could be the Tavern where the bravest and boldest of the realm gather after fair maidens have been rescued, dragons slain, or any number of evils quelled. In Four Taverns you compete against your opponents to have the best known Tavern in the Land. Hire Adventurers and send them out on Quests. The more Quests your parties complete, the more Adventurers come to your Tavern. However, take heed, for the other Taverns will often be playing for the same Quests you are. If they succeed where you fail, your Adventurers and gold will be lost. Warriors, Wizards, Druids, Swashbucklers, Alchemists, and Rangers. You’ll need all of them and more to win.

X Marks the Spot ($9.99) Arghh matey!!! This is a pirate game and you try to lay down your tiles to dominate the high seas.  Now this one sounds like it could be fun with a couple adult beverages going around.

It’s strategy and treachery on the high seas! Assume the role of one of four famous pirates from the history books and attempt to dominate the ocean by placing your flags in an X before your opponents do. Featuring a play mechanic unlike any other and top notch artwork, this game will keep you and your friends entertained time and time again!

This was another fun month for Game Box Monthly. I can’t help but think of adult time with these games just based on the titles but I know they will be good for multiple ages and we will have fun playing them. My youngest is usually on mine or my hubbies team and then my older son plays by himself. These games do look like they will take some time so we will pull them out on a weekend when we have some time to play.  This month we got two games instead of a game and some dice and I like that they are mixing it up. My sons love to collect the dice but I like that they included the second game and we will have fun playing.
