Urban Organic Gardener is a monthly subscription service that sends a collection of curated heritage garden seeds to your home at precisely the right time for growing them in your garden! When you sign up, you answer a few questions including how much experience you have with gardening; where your garden will be located; whether you plan to use containers, raised beds, land or hydroponics; and how much sunlight your plants will receive. Then the folks at Urban Organic Gardener consider where you live and put together a curated selection of organic seeds and send them to you.

Each month, your seeds will arrive along descriptions and information you’ll want to know when cultivating your plants from seeds.

Also included in each shipment are garden markers and soil pellets.

After your seeds have sprouted and it’s time for replanting, Urban Organic Gardener recommends dissolving these epsom salts in water and using the solution to water the roots, but not the leaves of your plant.

For what it’s worth, this is what I told Urban Organic Gardener: I’m a beginner who plans to garden in my backyard in containers in full sun. Let’s see what they sent!

I’m excited to receive these radishes! They only take 20-35 days to reach maturity, and they come in all sorts of different colors, including white, pink, red and purple. How fun! Urban Organic Gardener recommends planting them in late summer for an early fall harvest. Sounds great!

Although kale generally isn’t my favorite vegetable, I’m optimistic that I’ll appreciate kale I’ve grown myself more than what I can buy in the grocery store. This variety works well in salads, so hopefully it won’t be too tough. As a bonus, it’s so attractive that it can be used as an ornamental addition to the garden!

I love peas, and I can’t wait to grow these! Urban Organic Gardener recommends planting them in late summer for a fall harvest. They take 50-60 days to mature.

These Kentucky Pole Beans look delicious! They produce 6-8 foot vines, so I’m glad I have some bamboo on hand. I’ll put these in a raised bed.

These muncher cucumbers sound fabulous. They’re described as crisp, delicious, and not at all bitter. Perfect! Assuming I have the discipline to resist eating these directly from the vine, I’ll enjoy pickling these.

Thanks to Urban Organic Gardener, I’ve been having so much fun in my yard each morning! My son joins me regularly, and I’m thrilled that he’s so excited to join me! We love monitoring (and admiring) our fruits and vegetables as they grow and bear fruit. Since I’ve started gardening, the wildlife in my back yard has really started to flourish. I regularly see bugs of all varieties, butterflies, bees, birds and even hummingbirds! Sometimes I just look out the window admiring them all. I’m thrilled to be receiving this subscription, and I can’t wait to see what they send me next month!
