Scentbird is a monthly perfume and fragrance decanting subscription. With Scentbird you get a thirty day supply of perfume every month – Scentbird takes authentic perfumes and decants them into travel sprayers. There are over 450 fragrances to chose from!

When you join you fill out a profile – including three of your favorite designer perfumes – then you make a wish list of perfumes you’d like to try. You’ll get a new sprayer every month, plus your first month includes a case to hold whatever perfume you’re currently using! You can add extra cases to an existing subscription for $12.95. Members now receive a $15 credit each month against the purchase of a full-size bottle (note that this credit expires each month).

My mailer came with my fragrance and a card. The sprayer now comes in this neat cardboard tube (it was previously a box).

Scentbird’s Perfume Editors pick a new scent every month to feature. August’s is Carven Le Parfum; September’s is Nest Fragrances Dahlia & Vines:

This romantic, sophisticated floral exudes elegance, grace and luxury. Dewy daffodils, peony and rose are blended with the essence of garden vines in this feminine, floral fragrance. Dahlia & Vines is the most romantic way to complete your look for a special occasion or for every day.

Sounds like a romantic stroll through a flower garden!

You can see all the previous Perfumes of the Month at the bottom of the Scent of the Month page. Note that if your wish list is empty you’ll get the scent of the month. You can now get on demand scents, but if you’re a subscriber it’s less expensive to get a new one each month and there’s something to be said about giving yourself time to enjoy your new fragrance for a while.

Your first month will include a little perfume vial case and velvet holder. Scentbird decants the perfume from the manufacturer’s bottle to a little glass vial that fits in the sprayer. The perfumes are 100% authentic and you’ll receive an .27oz sprayer. A card comes with the vial demonstrating its use. You just twist it to spray!

New subscribers receive a sleek black case but other colors are available for an additional cost.

I selected Carven Le Parfum, which was August’s scent of the month. This is a romantic fragrance and at first spray I wasn’t sure if I liked it. I tried it again this morning and although it is different from what I would normally choose when I test at the store, I can’t stop smelling my arm! There was an initial sweet burst of scent that has now mellowed to what I would hope is a sophisticated and warm aroma. I selected it because it has citrus notes (my favorite) but I am not picking up those nuances at all. It is floral, sweet, with a bit of a woodsy note and I will save it for when the weather turns cooler as it is just a tad too heavy for summer. It didn’t stick around very long but in this heat that is probably a good thing.

Scentbird also provides a quick visual guide to the perfumes. You can get even more details on the different vectors of the scent by mousing over each of the main areas. This scent is heavy on the florals with spicy and woody touches coming in strong. Although it says it is good for everyday wear and summer, I think it is more of an evening scent and for fall or winter (due to the woody aspect). The value this month was $14.31 which is just about the cost of the subscription!
