MiamMiam Box July 2016 boxMiamMiam Box is a monthly subscription box that delivers only the latest and tastiest French snacks right to your door.  “MiamMiam” is how they say “yum yum” in France — like “mmm” and “yum” together!  The subscription has three levels:  Mini, Original, and Maxi — and each has unique and hard-to-find French treats based on seasonal themes.

The box was in a priority mailer, not in the cute custom designed boxes they show on their home page.

These sound very tasty, and they use common fruit and other ingredients.  I suggest going with trying 1/3 tsp cinnamon in the Frosty Cappuccino Smoothie to start!

MiamMiam Box July 2016 (4)A real person packed all your goodies (and kudos for depicting someone I suspect is an actual employee, rather than a beret-wearing composite named Jean-Pierre).

With every MiamMiam Box to which you subscribe, they donate a portion of their proceeds to ActionAgainstHunger.Org. The Maxi box equals 2 donations to a food bank!

MiamMiam Box July 2016 review

Everything in my July MiamMiam Box!  There was no information card about the items or themes, but everything comes in its own commercial packaging, so it’s easy to figure out.  I subscribed to the Maxi box, described as “about 4 lbs of exclusive and premium French snacks, food, treats, swags and much more!”  Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what the other subscription levels comprise, though I suspect they are of lesser quantity and similar composition (and you probably miss out on some of the larger snacks).

Brossard Magnets:  As an extra little item, a collectible Brossard magnet was included.  If you collect all 12, you can construct a map of Asia, and you can buy any magnets you are missing using points from their products.  The Savane Jungle cakes are made by Brossard.

MiamMiam Box July 2016 (6)

Carambar Caramel Candy:  Both varieties are the same chewy dark caramel.  Carambar has jokes on the inside of each wrapper, and the adult version simply has more risque´ jokes.

MiamMiam Box July 2016 (7)

Granola Bar Extra Cookie:  This bar is granola in name only — it is actually a crispy chocolate chip cookie covered in chocolate.

Granola Chocolate & Daim Cookies:  This version has chunks of chocolate and Daim bars (similar to Hershey’s Skor, a crunchy toffee and chocolate bar) inside.  The cookie is surprisingly light and crunchy.

Bahlsen Pick Up! Choco Bar:  This sandwich cookie came in two varieties, one with chocolate and another with chocolate and “milk filling.”

MiamMiam Box July 2016 (9)

Brossard Savane Jungle:  A delicate and moist cake injected with apricot jam. Miam!

L’ourson Lulu:  The Lu bakery’s famous bear is made of soft cake and filled with a chocolate creme.

St Michel Grandes Galettes:  These are my favorite in the box!  These giant butter cookies have a wonderful crisp texture, but it is the flavor that is really magical — the salt plays just perfectly with the rich buttery flavor of the cookie, and they have a flavor that I associate with authentic French patisserie — I’m not sure if it is the specific butter used or a product of technique, but it is distinct and lovely.

Lu Strawberry Barquette:  Soft oblong cookies with a sweet strawberry jam center. They’re like a swath of jam in a madeline.

MiamMiam Box July 2016 (12)

Delacae Delichoc:  Similar to Petit Ecolier cookies, but these crisp and buttery cookies are topped with a hefty chunk of dark milk chocolate.  Brandy fell in love with these and absconded with the pack!  The chocolate has a slight granularity that is particularly satisfying.  The cookie and chocolate were each tasty enough to have stood on their own, but together they were simply wonderful.

This box had multiple multi-serving packages plus more than a handful single-serving packages. I didn’t do a cost breakdown but this is pretty good for an imported treats subscription!  We are very pleased with this subscription — it has a nice volume and variety of snacks, and they are all very high quality items.  French cuisine has so much to offer in the way of sweets and baked goods — we are so happy to see a well-executed subscription focusing on these great treats.
