Loot Crate DX August 2016 box

Loot Crate DX is a monthly subscription box from Loot Crate.  It’s themed with the regular Loot Crate spoilers, except it contains premium next level loot for discerning geeks! It’s like a special edition box from Loot Crate – every month!

Loot Crate DX August 2016 unboxing

I like the classy style of the packaging with the slick paper. This month had Deadpool on the lid.  If you want a real treat, check out the spoilers post for the best (and NSFW) unboxing ever, featuring Chadpool.

The bottom of the box says “Always bet on Loot.”

The box comes with a tri-fold booklet with information about Loot Crate’s community features on the back. Check out the theme experience hub here.

ANTI-HERO was the theme for the August box!

Loot Crate DX August 2016 review

So much Deadpool radness, plus some other awesome gear. And Deadpool.

Loot Crate DX August 2016 (4)

Deadpool Merc with a Mouth Art Print: Framing it, going in my office, I love it. It’s a modified version of the 12×24 print from Dave Perillo. I finally feel like DX got the print right this month – it’s been almost like an afterthought and didn’t blow me away. This is a yes. Plus #tacos.

FYI – this print was bagged and boarded to protect it in transit.

Deadpool Aviator Sunglasses & Hard Case: These are fantastic. I love everything about them, except that they didn’t come with any indication of UPF. I’m waiting to hear if they have it – I think it’s really necessary. Anyways, I love the case too. I am always sticking my 50 pairs of glasses in a million places and these need protected!

UPDATE! The sunglasses are indeed UVA/UVB protective!

I can’t really recall Deadpool wearing sunglasses, but if he did, these would probably be them.

Exclusive Anti-Hero Dog Tag: This month’s crate came with a dog tag instead of a pin – and it has a magnet on the back so you can use it like a pin if you’d like. I humbly admit that I’m going to probably use it as a needleminder (a magnet that you attach to fabric and use to place your needle on it so you don’t misplace it). Either that makes me really nerdy or really geeky – depending on your interpretation. I’ll take either. IMG_5526

A better look.IMG_5528

I’m really hoping to see more of the magnetic clasps!

Loot Crate DX August 2016 (7)

Suicide Squad Adjustable Belt: With the entire squad on your belt, you will be ready for super anti-hero action. I thought this was a great belt for fall – it’s plenty large to fit all sorts of body types, and easy to buckle. Just lift up the XX face, slide in the belt, and press closed.  This is a one-size-fits most item and the instructions are right underneath the buckle, so if a slim teen wanted to wear it, it’s all good. This item was high quality, had great illustrations, I was really happy with it.\

If you’re not 100% sure about how awesome this item is, it has a hidden beer bottle opener underneath the logo!

Loot Crate DX August 2016 (8)

Borderlands 2 Handsome Jack Mask with Light Up Stand: I thought this was a new badass form for a collectible, and nice and creepy (I could also see V doing this, for obvious reasons).

Loot Crate DX August 2016 (10)

If you’re not familiar, Borderlands 2 is a RPG + FPS game.Loot Crate DX August 2016 (11)

This is why it’s badass. Light up time! The batteries were terrible to get in but the payoff was worth it. And perfectly creepy for Halloween decor if you’re not into the item itself. Loot Crate DX August 2016 (9)

Metals Die-Cast Suicide Squad Deadshot Action Figure ($13.52) The only item not exclusive to the box. Deadshot of course never misses except when it comes to Batman and I was really happy to see an item that wasn’t Joker (or the overplayed HQ) from Suicide Squad.

As you can see the box says Caution – HEAVY – because it’s die-cast!

Here’s a closer look.

Loot Crate DX August 2016 (13)

Deadshot is from the same company that produced the Iron Man in a previous DX (which my child is obsessed with and plays with daily).

Preacher Book 1 Graphic Novel I think just the cover is exclusive – this item is available on Amazon ($28.08).

Merging with a bizarre spiritual force called Genesis, Texan Preacher Jesse Custer becomes completely disillusioned with the beliefs that he had dedicated his entire life to. Now possessing the power of “the word,” an ability to make people do whatever he utters, Custer begins a violent and riotous journey across the country. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip and the hard drinking Irish vampire Cassidy, the Preacher loses faith in both man and God as he witnesses dark atrocities and improbable calamities during his exploration of America.

So this is basically the only page I’m going to show. Every other page I flipped to was a sex scene or an f-bomb.IMG_5519

As the back says, it’s totally profane and blasphemous and for mature readers. We do always recommend that if you’re unboxing a geek box in particular with a delicate flower or minor child to check out the items first because you never know what you’ll find in the box!

This was a really awesome box and one of the best yet for this subscription! I thought the Deadpool gear was all awesome (will update on the sun protection status of the shades) and the other items were pretty sweet. The value was there for this box and I feel like this subscription may finally be settling down into a nice groove!
