Beauteque offers two ways to get your fill of (mostly) Korean beauty products each month: BB Bag contains 6-8 full-sized products such as makeup, skin care, body care, and more for $24 per month; Mask Maven brings you 9-11 different masks for $15. Both subscriptions are offered in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month terms that will automatically renew until cancelled. The following is a review of July’s Mask Maven, whose theme is Beautiful Blend. This theme ties in with the July BB bag theme – Destination Beauty.

My masks were in a cute drawstring bag. I received 9 masks for the month of July.

The information card has an explanation of each item’s purpose and key ingredients along with basic directions. It states that an online version of this card along with the product ingredients can be found on their website later this month. Seven of the masks I received had the ingredients listed on the package and six of them had instructions in English.

The flip side of the card gave instructions on how you can post to social media and possibly win a free bag.

Tsaio Sweet Orange Moisturizing Mask ($1.29) I am into moisturizing products nowadays and this mask promises to help hydrate skin and prevent aging with the help of Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid.

Tsaio Green Tea Whitening Mask ($1.29) Although this says it is for whitening the skin it may give you a brighter and more translucent complexion. Contains green tea, pomegranate, and ginkgo extracts as well as aloe juice.

Tsaio Chamomile Licorice Skin Soothing Mask ($1.29) Ahhhh, a soothing mask for irritated skin, this one calms skin down with chamomile and licorice extracts and aloe juice.

Scinic My Juicy Bottle Mask – Soothing Ampoule Juice ($2) This mask is designed to help sooth irritated and acne-prone skin with tea tree oil and aloe.

Missha Pure Source Cell Sheet Mask – Green Tea ($1.10) Green tea essence is supposed to help reduce skin irritation and brighten the skin with this mask. I gave this one a try and it had a light, pleasant scent and left my face feeling cool to the touch, not an easy thing to do in Texas at this time of year.

Esfolio Green Tea Essence Mask Sheet ($1.90?) Some subscribers may receive the “Aloe” version instead. Contains green tea and quince extract for their moisturizing abilities. Also supposed to remove waste products from the pores.

Esfolio Honey Essence Mask Sheet ($1.90?) Some subscribers may receive the “Banana” version instead. The honey in this mask is supposed to help cleanse and moisturize the skin while the quince and portulaca extracts help increase elasticity and give a dewy appearance. Both of these masks are in the running for “cutest packaging EVER”.

Scinic Intensive Dual Mask – Soothing Solution ($2.99) This mask comes in 2 pieces for a better fit than the usual one-size fits all. My skin tends to be red so calming solutions are perfect for me and this one contains tea tree oil, aloe, and green tea extract for their soothing properties. Plus, it reminds me of how much I love The Phantom of the Opera.

The Face Shop MasCream Sheet – Brightening ($2.69) The promise of brighter skin is included in this mask that contains black pearl and argan oil plus “an entire jar of cream”. According to the general instructions, any remaining lotion or essence can be used to moisturize the face, hands, body, etc.

What a neat subscription! I have 9 new masks that cover a variety of beauty dilemmas and for the rest of the month I can pick and choose to my heart’s content. Most of them seem pretty universal (soothing, brightening) and a few are very moisturizing (yay!) but a couple will be passed on to my teenage daughter. I feel like the masks were picked for their hydrating and soothing properties to help you restore your skin after a day at the beach or pool. My July bag had a value of around $17, but keep in mind that the values are mostly based on a package of 10 of the same masks so if you wanted to purchase a similar mix of products you would end up buying a lot of masks. I like to mix it up so this type of subscription works well for me.
On a Side Note:  Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site).  Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. I am as white as a ghost so I can’t comment on that particular effect but hopefully you will experience brighter skin at least. Lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
