Fortune Cookie Soap is a a bath & body company that regularly releases themed collections throughout the year, usually focusing on pop culture. I’ve used their products before but what I didn’t know is that they have a quarterly subscription box. The soap box includes small travel/sample sized versions of the products that will be in an upcoming collection. Since the collections sell out very quickly on release day (I know from experience!) this is an awesome way to get a sneak peek at what’s coming.

The Fall soap box is no longer available, but the collection featured (As You Wish) goes on sale August 26 if you like what you see in my review! The Winter soap box is now for sale.

The fall theme is going to be The Princess Bride! This is one of my favourite movies, so I’m really excited to see what was included.

I didn’t expect to see so many items included! All of the product names are references to The Princess Bride, and they were all very clever!

Buttercup Shampoo This is a very light fragrance that is a floral vanilla. I was actually set to use this yesterday morning, but I’m going to save it for my trip to California as it’s a perfect travel size. FCS shampoos are formulated without sulfates — I remember being super into e-tailers/indie hair products about ten years ago because back then it was the only way to find shampoos without harsh chemicals. Now SLS-free products are everywhere!

Prepare to Die Your germs won’t stand a chance against Inigo Montoya! This hand sanitiser has a Christmas-y scent to it due to the clove, but overall I found it was more of a woodsy smell than a spicy smell. I really like it, though, it’s a scent I normally wouldn’t choose. It does have glitter in it, which leaves a few sparkles on your hands.

True Love Cleansing Oil Oh my god, first of all how beautiful does this look? This cleansing oil includes jasmine, citrus, and sea salt. I’m not sure about putting citrus or sea salt on my face, but I’ll give this a try. If you’ve never used a cleansing oil before, I definitely recommend it especially if you have dry skin!

Inconceivable! Another woodsy scent I normally wouldn’t have chosen for myself, though it also has pear and vanilla in it at the start. Once it’s warmed to your skin and settled, it’s a softer woodsy scent.

Pit of Despair Shower Steamer I love shower steamers so much. As much as I love a bath bomb, I shower more frequently. Toss a shower steamer in the corner of your shower out of the way of direct spray and let it slowly dissolve during your shower. This scent is patchouli, lemongrass, and plumeria, so it smelled very summery! This sample size is a bit smaller than the fullsize offered by FCS but it still lasted my entire 15 minute shower.

Mostly Dead Whipped Body Butter This is one of FCS’s most popular products so I was excited to try it — but I’m not crazy about the scent. It’s almond, pumpkin, and amber, and was a bit too heavy for me. But the butter itself is light and creamy and absorbed quickly.

Mawaige Scent Sample This cotton ball is scented with one of the new release scents which you’ll be able to scent certain products with. Mawaige is pound cake with pistachio, rosewater, cardamom, and buttercream. Unfortunately since the scent has already dried down you’re just able to smell the final drydown, which isn’t as complex.

Knight Cream Facial Moisturiser I really liked the texture of this! It’s lighter than the whipped body butter but still feels hydrating. It’s unscented.

Drop. Your. Sword. Fortune Cookie Soap And here it is, the soap that the company is named for! Dipped in glitter and skewered with a sword, this soap is scented of apple mead and smells great. It’s almost too cute to use but I’m sure I will!

I was really happy with the fall box. Even though the products are samples, they were all big enough to get multiple uses out of. It’s a great introduction to the scents and products that are part of the full collection to see what you prefer and would want to purchase more of!
