Comic Bento is a monthly comic book subscription service that delivers graphic novels and comics each month.  This is a great value as every month you’ll receive at least $50 in books.
012

Special care is given to each box.  To make keep the books from jostling about, Comic Bento uses bubble wrap and has all books packed together in plastic with cardboard to keep everything straight.

015

Four books from different publishers.  Comic Bento did well in some hot items to their offering this month.

018

Comic Bento includes a 2-sided card that gives you some insight into the books they sent.  They also give some backstory as to why they chose the books within the subscription box. This month’s theme is Robots!

022

Comic Bento is on the attack with robots.  This is pretty cool as you get four different titles from all different publishers.

026Bubblegun Volume 1: Heist Jinks– $12.99.  This is a cool looking cyber-punk collection from the talented team of Mark Roslan, Mike Bowden, David Curiel and Josh Reed.  This is actually a Comic Bento exclusive cover!!!

They like the tech, but live for the high stakes! Sisters Molli and Devyn, along with teammates Roman and Kyo-and a stockpile of cutting edge, cyber-punk technology, form a confident team of mercenary thieves able to take on the most formidable jobs around. Yet, when one cyber heist turns out to be more than they bargained for, as a mysterious package and its contents threaten to unravel the group to its core, the menacing worlds of corrupt industry and deadly espionage is unleashed upon them!

It Came! – Titan Comics – $14.99.  Dan Boultwood’s 4 part sci-fi parody  is put into one book for all to enjoy.  This is a great looking book and brings you back to the 1950s…under attack by a robot!

1958. Driving through the British countryside, unthinkingly misogynistic space scientist, Dr. Boy Brett, and his companion, Doris Night, pop into a quaint village pub for a cheese ploughman’s…
But waiting for them outside is a most unwelcome visitor: Grurk, an indestructible, monosyllabic robot from outer space, on a mission to harvest the British Blitz spirit for energy!
Pursuing Grurk in their Morris Minor, will Boy and Doris be able to save the British from a life without stiff upper lippedness, or will Her Majesty’s Kingdom be forever resigned to a life down in the mouth?

Witty, satirical and a rollicking good laugh, IT CAME! is a stunning piece of work, infusing the best (and worst!) bits of the 1950s B-movie with whimsical British charm.

036
Voltron – Volume 1: The Sixth Pilot – Dynamite – $19.99.  As a child I used to watch Voltron every morning before school.  This should be an interesting read as the action looks great and it’s Voltron!  Volume 1 collects the first 6 issues of this series.

Ultimate victory has never been closer for the Voltron Force. King Zarkon’s brutal regime has been pushed to the edges of the galaxy, left to wage a series of desperate and losing battles to claim innocent victims while they still can. But Zarkon knows something — a secret about Voltron over a hundred years old that could change everything for the Galaxy Alliance. This isn’t the Voltron we all know, but one redefined and re-imagined by those he and his adventures have inspired over the years. This is Generation Voltron!

Collecting the first six issues of Dynamite’s hit new Voltron series, along with a complete cover gallery with artwork by Alex Ross, Sean Chen, and more.

040Diesel Sweeties Volume 3: There Is a Cat on the Internet! – ONI Press – $19.99.  Out of all the books, this one was the book that jumped out at me.  It’s great to see actual comedy in a comic book.  It is all written, illustrated and designed by R Stevens.

What is best in life? Cats and the Internet, of course! And when you put the two together, you have the third collection of Rich Stevens’ long-running and pioneering pixel comic, Diesel Sweeties! Watch as the Diesel Sweeties gang explores the two oft-debated questions in life: “Why is my internet not working?” and “What does the damn cat want now?” For anyone struggling to remember the official ranking of social media (Hint: the acronym is GIFT) or wondering what it means to ship RoombaxCat, this collection is a godsend. Or, at the very least, a “send.”

Comic Bento is such an awesome value!  All four of these books were packaged so well together and arrived in spectacular condition.  As stated earlier, there is a theme but there’s also a ton of variety, and the theming of this box is pretty unique amongst comic subscriptions. The curator’s notes really bring the theme together, and that made this box even more awesome!
