The takeover was so large that it didn’t fit inside the Cocotique box.

First look in, and I see lots of full-sized products.

Everything in the Creme of Nature Takeover!

20160827_124544

Coconut Milk Detangling and Conditioning Shampoo ($4.99 at SallyBeauty.com):  A luxurious, creamy & hydrating formula created to replenish moisture, while gently cleansing hair.  This natural oil-infused formula is made with conditioning oils from Coconut, Avocado, and Olive.  The Cocotique information card states that this is sulfate-free, but it is not; sodium laureth sulfate is the 2nd ingredient listed.  The shampoo left my hair feeling clean, and very moisturized.  If not for the slight tangling, I might have skipped the conditioner.

Coconut Milk Detangling and Conditioning Conditioner ($4.99 at SallyBeauty.com):   Ideal for all hair types, this treatment can be used after every shampoo as a quick conditioner or every week as a reconstructor.  This conditioner had great slip and worked through my tangles with minimal effort.  When my hair dried, it was very soft.

Coconut Milk Detangling and Conditioning Leave-In Conditioner ($4.49 at SallyBeauty.com):  This Creme of Nature® two-phase leave-in quickly softens, detangles, and conditions while protecting against damage.  Shake before using to activate.  I used this on dry hair.  The shampoo and conditioner did such a great job on my hair that this wasn’t really needed.  On my dry hair, I found that this conditioner added a bit of shine but did not do anything to control my frizzy flyaways.

Acai Berry & Keratin Strengthening Hair Masque ($1.79):  Revitalize your hair with Creme of Nature® Strengthening Hair Masque with Acai Berry & Keratin.  This nourishing formula, infused with Certified Natural Acai Berries plus Keratin, helps aid in repair to strengthen and smooth dry or damaged hair.  I’m going to hold onto this for one of those days when my hair is desperately in need of some extra TLC.

Jessie’s Girl Mineralized Baked Eyeshadow – Esmerelda ($3.99):  I received this exact shadow in the March Cocotique box  (click here for review) and wish that I had gotten one of the other shades.  This is currently on a “last chance” sale for $2.00-3.99, significantly lower than Cocotique’s listed price of $10.99.

This Creme of Nature takeover box comes in around $20, which is the cost of a single box.  From a value standpoint, this is the 2nd month in a row where the box has been a takeover and underwhelming.  I really hope that Cocotique goes back to a curated variety box for September – the team was pulling together some pretty cool assortments.  While I like the takeover boxes, I like them better when they’re peppered throughout the subscription term.  What did you think of the takeover?  Leave a comment below to let me know your thoughts.

I would have been really disappointed if I got this box – I feel like sub boxes should have a higher value than what you pay. Breaking even is better than paying more than the value of what’s inside, of course, but still not great.

Glad you pointed out the shampoo contains SLS. I don’t use Creme of Nature shampoos for this reason and when I saw the info card I thought maybe they started making a sulfate-free product but apparently not. Not a great box!

Thanks for the comment Cassandra! Like you, I was excited about the possibility of a sulfate-free shampoo. Maybe they’ll produce one soon.
