Each package arrives beautifully wrapped in tissue paper inside a decorative box.
July’s theme was Eye Doctor! Both of my kids have always been interested in my glasses. Now my son can arrange for me to get a new pair!
July’s surprise box contained play glasses, 3D glasses, a 3D image, stickers, an eye chart, a prescription pad, patient exam forms, craft supplies and a completion sticker. This collection looked like so much fun! My son couldn’t wait to get started!
First, my son constructed an eye cover.
He affixed the felt circle to the wooden stick with adhesive and handed it over. It was time for him to test my eyes!
Here you go, Mom!
Next, he took out the eye chart and held it up so that I could read back what I saw, one eye at a time.
Since he was sitting close to me, I could actually read all of the letters! This excited me, but I couldn’t fool him: I do need glasses!
Next, we decided to check out the 3D glasses.
After putting them on, he asked me to look at the enclosed butterfly picture.
This picture is awesome! At first glance, it looks just like a typical butterfly pollinating a thistle picture. When viewed in conjunction with the 3D glasses, however, the near wing seems to come off of the page. Cool! I got so excited, that my son had to check it out too.
He couldn’t stop giggling and told me he wanted to wear the special glasses all day! After he settled down, we learned a bit more about what ophthalmologists do.
My son took notes as he administered his tests.
He noted that I could read eight lines with both eyes and that the butterfly popped out on the 3D images.
Still, he decided that I needed glasses.
He wrote me a prescription which I promptly handed back so that I could receive my new glasses.
There were lots to choose from!
I chose the pink ones. He thought this was so much fun that he had to join in too! He wrote himself a prescription for the green glasses.
These glasses were surprisingly comfortable and fun to wear!
For a few minutes, these glasses were so fun that I thought he might have forgotten about the novelty of the 3D glasses.
As payment for his expert services, I offered my son three sheets of stickers. He thought this was appropriate compensation for a job well done.
Finally, my son added his eye doctor sticker to his shirt. What a fun day of pretending together! Thanks, Bramble Box!
