IMG_7005Each package arrives beautifully wrapped in tissue paper inside a decorative box.

IMG_7004July’s theme was Eye Doctor! Both of my kids have always been interested in my glasses. Now my son can arrange for me to get a new pair!

IMG_7007July’s surprise box contained play glasses, 3D glasses, a 3D image, stickers, an eye chart, a prescription pad, patient exam forms, craft supplies and a completion sticker. This collection looked like so much fun! My son couldn’t wait to get started!

IMG_7018First, my son constructed an eye cover.

IMG_7019

He affixed the felt circle to the wooden stick with adhesive and handed it over. It was time for him to test my eyes!

IMG_7576Here you go, Mom!

IMG_7579

Next, he took out the eye chart and held it up so that I could read back what I saw, one eye at a time.

IMG_7011

Since he was sitting close to me, I could actually read all of the letters! This excited me, but I couldn’t fool him: I do need glasses!

IMG_7581

Next, we decided to check out the 3D glasses.

IMG_7009

After putting them on, he asked me to look at the enclosed butterfly picture.

This picture is awesome! At first glance, it looks just like a typical butterfly pollinating a thistle picture. When viewed in conjunction with the 3D glasses, however, the near wing seems to come off of the page. Cool! I got so excited, that my son had to check it out too.

IMG_7582

He couldn’t stop giggling and told me he wanted to wear the special glasses all day! After he settled down, we learned a bit more about what ophthalmologists do.

IMG_7020My son took notes as he administered his tests.

IMG_7586He noted that I could read eight lines with both eyes and that the butterfly popped out on the 3D images.

IMG_7588

Still, he decided that I needed glasses.

IMG_7021

He wrote me a prescription which I promptly handed back so that I could receive my new glasses.

IMG_7590

There were lots to choose from!

IMG_7008 (2)I chose the pink ones. He thought this was so much fun that he had to join in too! He wrote himself a prescription for the green glasses.

IMG_7593These glasses were surprisingly comfortable and fun to wear!

IMG_7622

For a few minutes, these glasses were so fun that I thought he might have forgotten about the novelty of the 3D glasses.

IMG_7013As payment for his expert services, I offered my son three sheets of stickers. He thought this was appropriate compensation for a job well done.

IMG_7012Finally, my son added his eye doctor sticker to his shirt. What a fun day of pretending together! Thanks, Bramble Box!
