The Boxwalla Food box contains delicious artisan crafted foods and goodies from all across the US! Boxwalla is a bi-monthly subscription service that offers four themes – natural beauty, artisanal food, international film, or books! In Boxwalla you’ll be able to discover great artisans and artists from across the globe. After your first box you can switch themes, but of course you can subscribe to more than one box as well!
The packaging for this box is absolutely gorgeous. The box itself is sort of like a luxe cotton rag paper covered box handcrafted by artisans in Rajasthan, India (none of whom are children). The outside indicates which box you received. I love how the box itself supports socially and environmentally conscious goals.
Love how packed they get this box!
The information card is a letter from “The Drunken Boxwallas” detailing each of the products. The theme for this box is Wandering Woman.
Everything in the August Boxwalla Food Box!
Catskill Provisions Maple Sugar &Ancho Chile Cocktail Rimmers ($14) This sweet-hot mix really packs a punch! It’s a combo of maple sugar and ancho chile that provides a slow burn – which I think is a great cocktail rimming idea for a summery tequila based beverage! You can also use it as a vegetable or meat rub. Are you brave enough to sprinkle it on some ice cream?
Sapore Della Vita Crema di Miele Hazelnut Honey Cream ($10.99) This is a blend of organic hazelnuts ground and mixed with organic acacia honey, with a great depth of flavor!
While this creamy topping would really pair with a nice cheese, I ate it with some pancakes, it was delicious! (ps. next item also great with pancakes!)
Lick My Spoon Razz Ma Tazz Chocolate Raspberry Jam ($13.50) Apparently this is from the same producer as the previous item! Blending Valrhona chocolate and fresh raspberries it’s very tart all by itself.
You can see how rich with raspberries this “jam” is though, and it’s precious served with basic carbs or more complex ones. I did nom some up with aforementioned pancakes – but saving the rest to mix in with BROWNIES!
INNA Schrub Triple Crown Blackberry ($6) Oh shrub – I love you so much! If you aren’t familiar with it shrub is a vinegar syrup that you mix either with club soda, or my fave – booze. Shrub isn’t easy to find and it’s hard to strike the right balance, but this one is perfectly acidulated with the right amount of flavor. I’m a fan of any subscription box that sends me my #2 favorite drink (#1 being coke zero).
Catskill Provisions All Natural Ketchup ($7) Oh yeah, this is my #1 favorite condiment. Have you ever noticed I have a slight ketchup obsession? Sweetened only with honey it tastes totally amazing with a great flavor lent by the wildflower honey. I’m making my husband go to the store for potatoes!
I’m always impressed by the selections in Boxwalla Food. This is a really really great artisan and gourmet food subscription box and I can’t recommend it enough for the curation and tastiness. The value is about what I expect (or actually a few dollars more than that even) from even an artisan food subscription box at about $52 – but a significant chunk of that was in the cocktail rimmers. The box does save you a significant amount on shipping and the finds are just fantastic! (Paragraph edited due to error in item value!)
