The Box of Blessings by International Blessings sends 3-4 jewelry or other handcrafted items by artisans around the world. International Blessings is working to empower 3rd world artisans by creating sustainable livelihoods and healthy families which break the poverty cycle. $3.00 from every box is donated to the cause of the month. The box sums it up! Breaking the poverty cycle helps keep parents and children from being forced into human trafficking, dying from curable diseases and more.
I love this quote from Mother Theresa. It’s a great reminder for me.
I can’t wait to see what wonderful items are from Thailand!
I wonder what is the big item underneath the jewelry?
The booklet provides information on what countries are featured each month, the cause of the month, and information about the items included in the box. The August theme is Thailand.
The cause for August is Food for the Hungry. The $3.00 donation will be multiplied by 22 times thanks to matching funds! The funds will be used in Ethiopia to provide food and water while the country is suffering from a severe drought.
The booklet also includes a description of the items in the box.
Here are the items in the August Box of Blessings. I am amazed that they fit a cross body bag in this small box.
Ethnic Lanna is a fair trade organization that works with the Hmong women, a hill tribe in Thailand. They provide a fair wage and safe working conditions while preserving the Hmong people’s culture which is evident in their fabric patterns. Ethnic Lanna sells through wholesale and also has an Etsy Shop called ThaiHandbags which is bohemian heaven!
The large sling crossbody bag ($7.99) is made out of cotton fabric and has a zipper. The inside is green. The outside pocket has a zipper with a flap covering it. T, age 17, is modeling the bag with a large box inside it. It measures 18″ x 13″ and is roomy. I love the wide strap and will be putting this to good use.
The adjustable wax cord bracelet has silver beads and a butterfly! The outside cords are braided. It’s a unique piece that did make my wrist a bit overheated. I am going to save it for the fall.
The red heart stone earrings are beautiful! The color is gorgeous. Subscribers could receive different shapes in red, white or turquoise.
The leather belt ring ($8.00) is made out of genuine leather. It has a buckle underneath which makes it adjustable. T thought it was cool and kept it for himself. He’s also eyeing up the cross body bag too.
The August box was full of surprises that both T and I enjoyed. I am still amazed that Box of Blessing fit the cross body bag in that tiny little box. Everything is appealing and met my expectation of design and color. The jewelry pieces can fit an assortment of wrists and fingers. The earrings stones are gorgeous. The cross body bag will be used often. The craftsmanship shows that the items are made by artisans skilled in their trades. It’s a wonderful box for those looking to support impoverished artisans and empower them and their communities while also support a monthly cause.
