BookCase.Club is a monthly book subscription box. Every month you’ll receive two handpicked books in one of eight genres. (For the children’s picture book box you’ll get four books!). This is an inexpensive book subscription – less than $15 including shipping per month!

When you sign up you’ll pick the genre. I selected Blind Date, because I love Paranormal Romance novels! They just added 2 new subscriptions – quarterly cookbooks, and quarterly military history.

The first look into my box. There isn’t much to these boxes and they include the two books and then a note/info sheet.  There is usually some packing paper rolled up around the edges to help with shifting during shipping. Most months we receive one paperback and one hardback book. I love the saying this month and I feel it is so true. I know that I’m starting to reread some books I read as a child with my boys and now that I’m in the maturity stage I’m getting so much more from them then when I read them as a youth.

The inside of the info card has a little blurb about each book and it is very timely this month. It is so Hot here in NC that sometime we feel like its hot as hell.

The note this month is from Crystal and talks about the new schedules that come with school being back in session. My boys go to a year round school so we’ve been in for awhile but I totally understand that sentiment and I know our schedule is all wonky when they are out.  I’ve actually been reading a lot since I take a book into carpool with me and then we all stop drop and read each evening to get out reading time in. Sometimes I read with them and sometimes we read on our own but still it is nice to just veg and read each day.

bookcase_aug2016_demonderby

Demon Derby by Carrie Harris ($15.79) When looking this up it gets a lot of comments that its like reading a lost episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and since that is one of my all time favorite shows I’m betting I will love this book.

Casey kicked cancer’s ass. Now a demon wants to kick hers. . . .

Casey hates being known as the girl who survived cancer. She wants people to treat her like her old self, fearless and strong. And after a creepy encounter with a crazy guy in an alley, Casey is all about reclaiming her power.

So when she has a chance to try out for the Apocalypsies roller derby team, she jumps on it. Being a derby girl would prove that she doesn’t need anybody’s pity. It doesn’t hurt that Michael, the team manager, is almost unnaturally hot. Which makes sense when Casey finds out that he’s not human.

Michael’s got a secret: he trains demon hunters. That crazy guy in the alley? Demon. And the fact that Casey went head to head with evil and lived makes her a threat to demonkind. Casey thought she’d already fought and won the battle of her lifetime. But it’s only beginning.

bookcase_aug2016_devil

Up Jumps the Devil by Michael Poore ($13.99) A comedic book that has the Devil himself as one of the main characters.  I can’t wait to see what hijinks he can get into while pursuing his love.

John Scratch, the Devil himself, is the protagonist in this stunningly imaginative, sharp, funny, and tender novel, as he tricks, teases, and prods America to greatness in the hope of luring his lost love back down to Earth from Heaven. Up Pops the Devil is fiction with humor and heart, the kind of hilarious, off-beat, and original reading experience that fans of Chris Moore, Joe Hill, Chuck Palahniuk, and Jim Shepard would sell their souls for—a brilliant blending of the occult and the outrageous starring the anti-hero of anti-heroes, the one and only Prince of Darkness.

Another month of new books for me.  I love how BookCase.Club sends me new authors each month and forces me to step outside my bubble of the same authors over and over. The books are always in the genre I’ve selected of paranormal romance and they are nice and easy to read.
