Baker’s Krate is a Canadian subscription that sends you a box of delicious desserts once a month. The bakeries featured are all Canadian and local! Baker’s Krate recently revamped their entire box, so the new box is more compact. The familiar logo is still there, but the packaging is now white instead of brown.)

I really love the polka dotted tissue paper and little whisk/rolling pin sticker that has come in with the revamp!

Taro Cookie Sandwiches (Pinky’s Bakeshop) This cookie is huuuuge and has a cool purple half. The outside is a butter cookie, though it’s apparently taro flavoured but the taste was so mild it wasn’t really noticeable. I didn’t notice it in the frosting, either — it was just very sweet. Taro is a root which is lightly sweet as well, so I think that’s just its natural flavour. Overall, it just tasted like an overly sweet butter cookie.
Green Tea Brownies (Pinky’s Bakeshop) I really don’t like green tea, but I tried these anyway — when I think brownie, I think of chocolate. This was just bitter green tea flavour and the chocolate chips really didn’t add anything to it.
Matcha Oreo Bites (Roll Cake Bakery) These green tea squares are topped with chocolate, marshmallow, and Oreo crumbles, but the same bitter green tea flavour dominates everything.
Apricot Amaretto Chew (High Tea Bakery) This oatmeal cookie is also pretty huge, and is packed with almond flavouring, amaretto, and apricots! I didn’t notice the apricot but the almond flavouring was strong. I liked the oatmeal cookie base, it added a nice change of texture.
July was pretty underwhelming for me; I was disappointed there were two items with the same flavouring as I didn’t enjoy either. This seems to be the first month that Baker’s Krate seems to be trying a theme — three of the four items had a distinct Asian flavour to them (the taro and the green tea) which is great if you like the theme, but if you don’t it’s a bit of a write-off. I did enjoy the amaretto cookie but nothing really got me excited.
