August 2016 Target Beauty Box Review – Make the Grade Box

Such a cute box for $7!

The August theme is Make the Grade -sounds perfect for anyone who’s going back to school!

The information card has a clean, crisp design that states the products and a brief description. There’s also a Target coupon included – save this for next month’s box!

Everything in the August box – lots of basics this month, nothing too fancy.

Olay Makeup Remover Wet Cloths ($1.40) These worked great and quickly and easily removing the makeup I had on before and after sampling the products in this box without irritating my skin. No fragrance either – unusual for Olay (and welcome!)

 Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ($5.15) I have used this plenty of times – and it’s been in plenty of recent Target Beauty Boxes, which is getting a little old. Layer it on top of your normal nighttime product for additional moisture.

To be honest if this box is targeted at college kids they missed the mark – although I have always moisturized I would not have found this product to be interesting in college!

 up & up Women’s 5-Blade Razor ($4) A two pack of 5 blade razors from Target’s own brand Up&Up.

 These have iffy reviews but they worked great and had nice moisturizing strips.  CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara ($7) I was excited to try this mascara but was a bit disappointed. The formula itself was dry.

 It worked fine but was more about pointy lashes than volume, which is what I prefer. I couldn’t tell if it had a weird brush or the dryness of the formula made it into a little swirly pattern. This may be the driest fresh mascara I have ever used.

It looked fine but I still tossed it, because I have plenty of mascara to use and I just wasn’t interested in using this one again. However, if you don’t, it was nice enough – but probably a rebuy for nobody. Bummer, because this is the one item I really wanted to love!

Juice Organics Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner in Coconut ($2) Whoops! Target forgot my conditioner. A bit of a bummer.

This made my hair actually squeaky clean. As in my hair squeaked! That was odd but my hair looked good today and this shampoo has no parabens, sulfates, etc. my only complaint besides the missing conditioner was the foil seal – which I didn’t notice until I was all wet in the shower.

 Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid Antiperspirant/Deodorant ($1.20) It’s deodorant.  The squishy kind. It does work all day and you can still smell the rather strong scent at the end of the day.

 Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips ($1.80) Just a quick whitening and brightening! Likely not enough to see a difference but enough for maintenance!

 NYC Color Get It All Lip Color in ExtraordinBERRY ($3) I was not particularly keen on this berry lipstick’s formula. It is quite matte and just didn’t look fantastic.

The color was fabulous but it has that drugstore lipstick smell. It wasn’t for me.

This was really a box of basics. On the one hand you could use absolutely every product in a day – and on the other hand it was a little boring. Still, it may have given you a chance to explore alternatives for your daily routine.

But mostly, there was $24 of value for a $7 box. Yay! Let me know what you thought about the box in the comments!
