Yummy Bazaar delivers gourmet food items to your door monthly. This Destination Food Club is available in a large Full Experience size and mini Sampler size. With the Full Experience you’ll get 6-8 full sized gourmet items from your destination for $35.95. The Sampler subscription sends 6-8 sample sizes for $9.95. While the Full Experience Box focuses on a different country each month, the Sampler Box has a monthly World Theme that is described as featuring products from 2-3 different countries each month — some months include more destinations.
This review covers the Sampler Box for June 2016 – only $9.95 per month!
The packaging is a bit simpler than the Full Experience Box, but you still get an info sheet detailing the contents of the box.
The sheet may borrow some of the imagery from the Full Experience box, but the products and destinations can be very different. This box did include a pair of items from Korea!
The info card details the products. The origin of each item is provided — This month covered a lot of real estate, visiting Spain, Japan, Korea, and Turkey!
Everything in the box.
Jose Andres Potato Chips With Himalayan Pink Salt (Spain): This all-natural potato chip has a very nice crunch and retains quite a bit of the extra virgin olive oil in which it was cooked. They are lightly salted with lovely Himalayan pink salt. These were a nice, straightforward version of a chip.
Koska Sesame Krokan Bar (Turkey): This version of sesame crocan is not very sweet, but it is crunchy with a bit of tenderness and has a nice sesame flavor that is not particularly toasted or dark. A very enjoyable textural treat.
Basak Ezogelin Tomato Lentil With Mint Soup (Turkey): This mix is a very elegant version of tomato soup, incorporating hearty lentils and Turkish spices. The bulgur, red lentil, and mint soup is very popular in Turkey and is served as a wedding soup.
Vitrely Wave Roasted Seaweed in Spicy Gochujang Sauce (Korea): These crunchy loafs of laver (seaweed) have a liberal sprinkling of sesame seeds inside for added flavor and texture. The real dose of flavor comes from the addition of gochujang, a fermented hot sauce that packs a kick.
Maruesu Soft Dried Squid Shreds (Japan): These dried squid are typically served as a drinking snack, or otsumami, in Japan. These dried tentacles are prepared as to remain tender and easy to chew.
Orion Soft Custard Cup Cake (Korea): This delicious little cake is made with eggs and tapioca. Filled with custard, it’s like a traditional Korean version of a Hostess cake.
The inside contains a very rich and thick vanilla custard. Mmmm…
The Mini Box is a fun way to try some delicious snacks from all over the place. It doesn’t have the uniform theming of the Full Experience, but it is a good way to get your international food fix and a really good deal at less than $10 per month!
