Everything in my July SinglesSwag box!

The information card contains a brief description of each item and its’ value.  This month’s theme is, “I went searching for love and found more of myself.”  To me, this statement says that by being open for love, I’ll find more pieces of my personality to love.  Maybe they’re quality traits reflected in those that I am looking at or I’m learning what makes me happy.  Regardless, this is echoing last month’s quote, and I like it.

swag book
121 First Dates by Wendy Newman ($11.40):  SinglesSwag has this listed at $16.00.  Using real first dates as both examples and anecdotes, 121 First Dates provides tips to help you be successful at online dating (and dating in general).  I skimmed a few of the sections and was surprised by the honesty.  For example, my favorite reason for the lack of a second date is that I’m intimidating.  Newman’s response, “he’s not intimidated.  He’s just not interested in you…  What men are put off by is an attitude of complete self-sufficiency.  There’s a big difference between “I’ve got my life together.  Go, me!” and “I’ve got everything together, so what do I need you for?””  It made me stop and think about the vibe I’m putting off.

Based on years of research and 121 real-life first dates, relationship expert Wendy Newman dishes up practical wisdom for navigating the online dating trenches with grace, efficiency, and a strong dose of humor.

Wendy Newman has made every imaginable dating mistake so you don’t have to. Part guidebook, part personal tell-all, 121 First Dates chronicles Wendy’s funny, real-life misadventures and the practical wisdom she gained from them. Her dating tales will find you laughing, commiserating, and nodding your head as you learn how to stay in the dating game until you find the right man, just like Wendy did.

This book busts myths, answers age-old questions, and examines pitfalls that make you want to give up on dating altogether. Just when you’re about to submit to a lifetime at home with a pint of Haagen-Dazs and sitcom reruns, 121 First Dates will inspire you to keep stepping out. Wendy discusses how to date successfully and efficiently, avoid the most common dating pitfalls, have an amazing first date with anyone, end uncomfortable situations with grace, and much, much more. She offers up realistic Dos and Don’ts as well as tips for making the most of any situation you find yourself in—whether you want to run or you think he’s the one.

Brimming with humor, hope, and authenticity, 121 First Dates will give every woman the tools, confidence, and determination to be and stay real when dating. How else will you find the best match for you?

Skinnygirl Gummies – Annabella Cherry and Mango ($3.50):  Made with all-natural ingredients, these gummies are packed in convenient 100-calorie packs.  These had a good texture and reminded me of children’s fruit snacks, but with a grown up feel.  The message on the back of the bag was cute, and the Skinnygirl on the gummy was a nice touch too.

Fred Wine Lines – Woozy ($7.99):  Never confuse your wine with someone else’s with these glass tags.  This series contains fun euphemisms for being tipsy.  Made from synthetic rubber, these are washable and reusable.  Use care when removing these from the package.  Some of mine were stuck together, and I tore one trying to pull it out of the package.

Emoji Sticker Pack ($5.00):  Six sheets hold 288 different emoji stickers to liven up your day.

Pura Vida Original Bracelet – Baja Blast ($5.00):  Each Pura Vida bracelet is unique and handmade by local artisans in Costa Rica.  They are waterproof and adjustable.  I actually have another of these bracelets that I received at an expo.  They are durable and the waterproof coating lasts.

FYI, Puravida now has its own subscription!

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter – Seashells ($18.95):  “This is what we call a sugar fuchsia – bold enough to give you that awesome pop of colour, yet combined with a silky, hydrating consistency so it works on a huge variety of skin tones without looking garish. Just cool, bang-on-trend sophistication”.  Although this may work on a variety of skin tones, it was too Barbie pink for me and will be passed on.

FashionIt Folding Backpack ($14.99):  SinglesSwag has this listed at $17.00.  This is a lightweight polyester bag that opens into a full-sized backpack.  Bonus, it is water resistant which is great for the rainy season in Florida.  As I mentioned earlier, these were shown as a spoiler and made me very happy.  The purple and coral were shown, but I’m not sure if other subscribers received one of the other 3 colors/patterns that are available.

I estimated this box to be around $67, which is lower than the $74 that SinglesSwag notes.  Both amounts are still well over the cost of a single box.  The vibe I got from this month’s box was a for a girls’ weekend getaway and not so much looking for love.  I felt the items were useful and cute, and completely appropriate for the season.  I’ll have to add 121 First Dates to my beach bag.  After reading all of these books from SinglesSwag, I’m going to have to up my dating game.  Maybe I won’t be single for too much longer.  Or I could just be single to keep getting this great swag.  LOL
