The Globe In Benefit Basket is a monthly subscription that sends one handmade artisan product in addition to a beautiful handmade basket to your home. Globe In is committed to empowering artisans around the world by providing remote artisans with a global distribution network for their goods. With each shipment, you’ll get to learn about the artisans and communities your purchase has helped to support. For those who are interested in receiving a larger curated selection of goods inside a beautiful handmade basket, Globe In also produces an Artisan Box.
Each box arrives beautifully wrapped in tissue paper.
This succinct message is right on point: the contents of this box will grace your kitchen with a work of art from an area that has been inhabited since ancient times.
I loved how this month’s gorgeous basket matched the tissue paper used to wrap it up! Due to the fragility of this month’s item, extra care was taken in packaging the box.
Inside the basket, the dish was nestled within a protective layer of bubble wrap.
This month’s benefit basket included a gorgeous hand-painted heart plate and a matching Globe In signature basket.
I love these baskets ($12 or 3 for $30)! They are produced by a weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico, specifically for Globe In, using previously discarded palm fronds and water-based paints. Each basket is 6″ in diameter and 5″ tall. This month, my kids decided that each component was actually a hat. They each walked around the house wearing their new hats proudly.
This month’s feature product is a heart dish made by Hebron Glass in Hebron, in Palestine.
Hebron Glass is a family-owned company that was founded in 1890. It specializes in hand crafted glass and ceramics and is committed to providing fair wages and sustainable year-round work for its 60 artisans.
I love how each month Globe In shares a story of one of the artisans behind that month’s featured item! This month features Husam, a skilled painter from Hebron who loves his ancient city. Husam hopes that his artwork will help connect people worldwide with Hebron, which today suffers from occupation and war.
This hand-painted heart dish is designed with a motif that’s common in Palestine. It can be found in mosques, homes and on clothing as as well. I love it! When I saw the spoilers for the Artisan Box this month, I knew I had to get ahold of the spoon rest in this same motif. It’s what finally prompted me to order an Artisan Box subscription of my own!
This is the third month I’ve received Globe In’s Benefit Basket, and I couldn’t be happier with the quality or value in what they’ve sent. I love the global influences in all of their products, and I love that they support small artisans around the world. I can’t wait to see what they send out next month!
