The packaging for this box is absolutely gorgeous. The box itself is sort of like a luxe cotton rag paper covered box handcrafted by artisans in Rajasthan, India (none of whom are children). The outside indicates which box you received. I love how the box itself supports socially and environmentally conscious goals.

Everything in the June Boxwalla Food Box!

Treehouse Chocolate Co. Cherrywood Sea Salt Drinking Chocolate ($7) This is a bit of an odd product to include in a summer box. However, if you think about it’s a great way to ship chocolate during the summer. Plus you could prepare it and make a frozen hot chocolate or iced mocha.

If you’re like me, you’ll just drink hot chocolate during the summer!

Anyways, this cocoa is a collab between Treehouse and Jacobsen Sea Salt Co and if you’re confused about the cherrywood, apparently that’s the name of the salt (we all thought it was cherrywood chocolate with sea salt, it was confusing!).

McCrea’s Caramels Flavor Family ($15.95) I love McCrea’s. In my opinion these are some of the best artisan crafted caramels in the world. I have probably tried about 30 brands over the last year and I get excited when these are in a box.

Boxwalla Food June 2016 (4) The flavors were: Dark Roasted Mocha, Ginger Fusion, Rosemary Truffle Sea Salt, Highland Scotch, Black Lava Sea Salt, Tapped Maple, Cape Cod Sea Salt, Classic Vanilla, Deep Chocolate.

I don’t know if I have a favorite except I didn’t like the scotch and left all the mocha for my husband, because coffee.

Oh, I do have a favorite, it’s the ginger. It’s so bracing but not biting. All of them are so soft and sweet and lovely though.

Primo Preserves’ Berry Pasilla Preserves in Mild Heat ($4.05) I love this jam! I have sampled it before and it brings an intense berry flavor married with a mild heat.

Boxwalla Food June 2016 (6) I recommend for a cheese pairing or a delightfully different jam and pb sandwich.  It’s really very very good.

Brooklyn Delhi Tomato Achaar ($8.75)

Auria’s Malaysian Kitchen Lime Leaf Sambal ($9.99)

Ok. I am going to be honest. The first 3 products were great. Fantastic. But these two totally blew my mind!

The tomato achaar smelled just like an Indian kitchen. It was a little oily but stirred right up so I could sample the flavors.  It’s a great pickle for all your condiment needs to give your regular foods a twist! I love the info card’s suggestion of putting it on a grilled cheese sandwich, because then I had the idea to make pimento cheese with this. I think it’s going to be a must have.

The Sambal I need more of. A lot more.  This is the real star of the show and if I don’t eat it all by itself (I have this bizarre condiment addiction and I will totally just eat them by themselves!) I’m going to put it on some nachos for the best nachos known to mankind. You must try it – it’s made with Makrut lime, green chilies, and garlic, and the lime leaf flavor is so bright and perfect.

With a total value of $47.50 the value in this box was pretty good – artisan/gourmet food boxes generally come in at right at the box price or slightly under, and I would not be sad to pay that for this box, although as always I wish the value met the cost, the difference is marginal. However, the tastes were amazing, this was a must have box for this month.
