There’s also quarterly military history and cookbooks. I selected the Read to Me Case.

IMG_6326This month’s package arrived well-packed with a small piece of paper providing extra support during transport. Once I removed it, I was greeted by a delightful collection of illustrated children’s books. My son was so excited to see what was inside that it was difficult taking pictures first!

IMG_6329Along with the books, this month’s box arrived with an activity booklet. I loved the quote on the front!

These activities are perfect for my son! He loves number games and hidden pictures! I love that each month brings new activities for my son to complete. He cannot get enough of them!

IMG_6328In addition to the activity sheet, the package contained four picture books: “The House that’s Your Home” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jane Dyer, ” “Hands Say Love” by George Shannon, “A Bunny in the Ballet” by Robert Beck and “The Secret Life of Squirrels” by Nancy Rose.

“The House that’s Your Home” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jane Dyer ($16.26) is a sweet book with beautiful pictures that offers grounding and reassurance to young readers. It also helps youngsters understand the concept of “your.” My toddler enjoyed this book very much.

“Hands Say Love” by George Shannon ($15.42) celebrates all the work that parents do out of love for their children. My kids and I all loved it. This book prompted my son to ask a lot of questions about why my husband and I do certain seemingly mundane tasks for him. I felt like this book brought us closer together.

“A Bunny at the Ballet” by Robert Beck ($15.91) is a sweet tale of dreams come true through hard work and luck. My kids liked the ballet references and I enjoyed the illustrations very much. This was a win for us.

“The Secret Life of Squirrels” by Nancy Rose ($12.80) anthropomorphizes squirrels in both words and photographs. It concludes with notes on how to take pictures of wildlife. I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, the story is very cute as are the pictures. And it’s about squirrels, which I think is great! Still, as cute as the photographs are, they bother me. Why would someone make a squirrel do all sorts of unnatural tasks and then photograph them in the process? To conclude with tips on how to take pictures of wildlife seems to send a message to kids that wild animals can and should be played with. After returning from a vacation where I saw multiple adults try to pet wild squirrels, this just seems wrong to me. Still, my kids love the book as do the reviewers online, so I know I’m in the minority!

My kids love this subscription! When the box arrived in the mail, my son skipped back to the house saying “Yay! We have new books!” I’m thrilled that this subscription brings so much joy and quality family time to our home each month.

I really enjoyed this month’s Read to Me Case from BookCase.Club! All four of these books were new to us, and we will happily read them again and again. These books were all engaging and included great, age-appropriate messages and themes. This was a real win for us. We can’t wait to see what they send next month!
