Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution ($3.5) Hello magic water! For me this didn’t work on ultra waterproof items but it does the job for sure on regular makeup, and is super handy! Plus it’s soothing with aloe and cucumber.
MDSolarSciences Mineral Crème SPF 50 Broad Spectrum UVA-UVB Sunscreen ($4.41) This mineral SPF 50 sunblock is water resistant, with a matte finish and it’s good for all skin types (including acne-prone and rosacea!). This is a great product and I was happy to discover it!
Balance Me Radiance Face Mask ($6.8) I really like Balance Me products so I was happy to see this in the box! This kaolin clay mask smells great and has all sorts of essential oils, and is a not-forever mask, requiring just 5 minutes on clean skin before removing. Like a lot of the Balance Me products it contains ground walnut shell for polishing.
Smashbox Cosmetics X-Rated Mascara (~$11) This was my sample choice and I was glad I picked it – good coverage and excellent volume. I expected nothing less! Nice and buildable.
Raw Spirit Fragrances Mystic Pearl Eau de Parfum ($4.50) Now that Sephora Play! is open to just about everyone it’s hard not to compare Birchbox ($10 a month, will send perfumes as samples) to Play! ($10 a month, perfume every month as a bonus item). At least this one has a SPRAYER! This scent is “a blend of white flowers, jasmine, frangipani, and coconut, mingled with tantalizing notes of tropical spices, cinnamon, and clove.” It was quite floral and not really to my personal tastes, although I had high hopes. I think I would like it better for a sultry nighttime fragrance instead of mid-day.
My Birchbox this month had a value of about $30, but it wasn’t a wow box for me. However, I’ll use everything up, except for the scent, which I will probably only use once or twice!
