BeautyFIX is a monthly subscription box from Dermstore that sends you the latest skin care, hair care, and makeup products for $24.95 a month (or $34.95 for a one-time purchase). They feature full and travel sized products and promise the box will contain at least $100 worth of items. Everyone receives the same products, although makeup colors may differ, but at least you will know what you’re getting if you decide to purchase the box after you see the contents.

FYI – you can subscribe to BeautyFIX and receive this exact box – it’s usually available all the way through the end of the month!

My products were wrapped in tissue paper and there was a product information card on top.

A lot of the items came in boxes this month, which probably helps keep items from shifting during shipping.

The product information card gave the item name, what it is used for, and a coupon code for a shop purchase. This month’s theme was “Summer Sparkle”, with a focus on helping your skin look radiant.

Dr. Hauschka Night Serum ($32.19) This gel serum “instantly absorbs into your skin”, which means that it is hard to distribute evenly on your face without using a bunch of pricey product (they suggest a pea-sized amount, which was not enough for me). My skin was left feeling dry and tight afterwards.

Glytone Acne Treatment Spray – Back and Chest ($20) No one wants to suffer from the dreaded “bacne”, especially in summer, but my back acne days are long gone so this was a miss for me. I will pass this on to my daughters. Contains 2% salicylic acid and can be used on the chest too. For testing purposes I went ahead and sprayed this on my chest and it smelled like straight up rubbing alcohol. I would suggest spraying on your hands first and then applying or just cover your nose, mouth, eyes, etc. so you don’t accidentally inhale alcohol, like I did.

Neova Cu3 Intensive Lip Repair ($16) Copper is the next-to-last ingredient in this petroleum jelly based lip soother, which also contains paraffin, mineral oil, and glycerin. It was very silky, and less like a balm. No noticeable taste or flavor.

Avene Micellar Lotion ($14.08) I used this 3-in-1 cleanser, makeup remover, and toner as an eye makeup remover and was impressed that it thoroughly removed all traces of mascara without irritating my eyes. It does contain fragrance so beware if you have sensitive skin.

skyn ICELAND Blemish Dots ($5) Yet another miss for me I am afraid. I have more “mature” skin and acne is rarely a concern so I will pass these on. To use: apply a dot gel-side down on a pimple and press down until it adheres. The salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and calming anti-inflammatories work together to shrink the blemish and purify the skin.

Danielle Creations Therapeutic Gel Beads Eye Mask ($9.99) My eyes are definitely looking their age and I am always on the lookout for puffiness-reducers. This mask can be chilled for a few hours in the freezer and then placed on the eyes so you can go back to using cucumbers for snacks. If you prefer a warming sensation then follow package directions for heating in the microwave.

The gel beads are meant to be on the outside and the super plush part actually covers your eyes.

See, super soft! There is a product tag on the side though so carefully cut it off before use or tuck out of the way when wearing.

DS Laboratories Oligo.DX ($39) This product came with a box insert that is designed both in looks and wording to appear just like the ones you would receive with a prescription medication. It claims to use micropatch caffeine and nanosomes to penetrate the deeper layers of yada yada yada. Just apply to the appropriate places and see if it does anything for you (I saw no noticeable effect). It does say to avoid use if you are pregnant or nursing and not to use a moisturizing soap or lotion prior to use.

This box contained 7 items (5 of them full sized!) and was worth $136.26, and that was using some discounted prices from Amazon! Unfortunately, this box was sort of a miss for me personally. I would have liked to have received a hair care product and a makeup item. The 2 anti-acne products were a no-go for me, and I am not interested in using a product for cellulite. I did, however, enjoy the eye mask and micellar lotion as well as the lip balm. I know every box won’t be a complete hit with everyone and most people will probably be blown away by the value alone. I wish that they would offer two different choices, maybe a box for those under 35 and another for those over 35 years old, as younger subscribers might not get excited to find anti-aging products. I am sure there are plenty of people out there who will think this box is perfect for them!

With my first box of Beauty Fix last month, I loved everything. This box is a complete miss for me outside of the lip product. I will give it another month and see how it goes.
