First Peek

I opened the box and knew that this was a box for J, age 7. He is a huge TMNT fan. Powered Geek Box doesn’t have a theme although I noticed that the items tend to be timely. The box arrived during the first full week that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie was in theaters.

J was eager to open everything up right away. This time, he was able to because there was something included inside the TMNT lunch box. The lunch box was heavier than I expected.

Kudos to Powered Up Geek for packing the glass in bubble wrap and then wrapping the shirt around it. Both items were inside the lunchbox. Less waste and J enjoyed unwrapping everything!

Cowabunga Dudes! J, age 7, and T, age 17 are going to find the box to be wicked and radical. It’s totally awesome.

It looks like we are going back to the 80s again. I got a big kick out of Mikey (Michelangelo) saying Cowabunga! Here is a fun clip of Mikey saying Cowabunga!

TMNT Shell Lunch Tin

PA Anna: J claimed the TMNT Shell Tin Lunchbox ($11.92) right away. He plans to store treasures in it. It is large enough to carry a couple of slices of pizza but not a whole pie. Sorry Michelangelo. The classic version of the TMNTs is featured on the tin.

T: The tin features the ninja turtles from the 1987 cartoon series. “Turtle Power” is one of their catchphrases.

TMNT Shirt

PA Anna: T was not around for the unboxing but did add in his 2 cents in the review. The TMNT Classic Group Shot T-Shirt ($16.52) was beloved by all. It is the shirt second to the right when clicking on the link. Powered Geek Box sends out t-shirt variations.

T (age 17) The shirt features the four ninja turtles: Leonardo (blue), Donatello (purple), Raphael (red), and Michelangelo (orange). This is a graphic tee from the 1987 ninja turtles cartoon show. Jadon owns several seasons of this series and loved this because the turtles are lighthearted and funny.

PA Anna:  Note to self that I need to bump the sizing up to a medium for T. It is an official licensed shirt.

My sister and I looked at the shirt during the unboxing and thought it was a kid size. She wears a size 4/6 and thought the shirt sizing was off a bit. There is no way that this shirt would fit T in the shoulder area.

TMNT Tumbler - Leonardo

TMNT Tumbler Michelangelo

PA Anna: No need to pick favorites with the TMNT Tumbler by Zack ($4.99) if Michelangelo or Leonardo are your favorites. The 10-ounce glass tumbler features them in their classic form. The glass is not dishwasher or microwave safe.

T: Wow. Big throwback to the 80’s here. The glass features the 1987 turtles Leonardo and Michelangelo. Leo is holding a katana, his weapon of choice, and has two katanas on his back. Michelangelo is holding a pair of nunchucks, the weapon he prefers to use in a fight. There are two pairs of nunchucks behind Michelangelo. I love the design.

PA Anna: 30 years of TMNTs and I still can’t remember who is who! The FUNKO Pocket POP! Keychain – Raphael ($7.82) has been claimed by J. I included the box photo for those that are collectors. No dents or any type of damage to the box.

T: The tiny Pop Figure is Raphael from the 1987 show. Raph is known for being really strong and cool. Raph is hard on his 3 brothers and pushes them to become better. He butts heads with Leo a lot about who should lead the team. I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows with my brother opening night. We love how the TMNTs are brothers.

Marvel String Doll - Wolverine
Marvel String Doll – Wolverine

PA Anna: I was asked last week what was the strangest thing I received in a subscription box. I think the Marvel Retro Wolverine String Doll ($4.99) is a contender for the top item. All I can say is why? I don’t need a voodoo string doll. My older son explained to me how they killed off the immortal Wolverine and there is a website keeping watch for his return in comic books.

T: For a guy who is allegedly immortal, they killed Wolverine. Is that a voodoo doll? I feel like if I touch it something will happen to Hugh Jackman. Wolverine is shown in his traditional X-Men garb. The one thing I do like about this is that the claws start coming out around the wrist like they do in the comics, instead of between his knuckles like in the movies. X-Men Apocalypse came out a couple of weeks ago, and I was excited to see there was a Wolverine scene. Wolverine 3 is scheduled to come out next year and will be Hugh Jackman’s last time with the claws.

Retro Hulk Pin and Deadpool Air Freshener
Retro Hulk Pin and Deadpool Air Freshener

PA Anna: J claimed the Retro Hulk Pin for his lanyard. Is a Deadpool Air Freshener ($6.49) strong enough for a teenager’s room? Time will tell.

T: The button shows an older comic style Hulk. Hulk will be featured in Thor: Ragnarok next year.

Deadpool is here and in his sassy and classy comic book normal! (okay, so it’s his normal suit, but it’s Deadpool) He is showing off his katana wielding skills in this air freshener. I’m not sure if there’s a special reason why it’s strawberry scented or if it’s because they’re red like Deadpool. Deadpool 2 is already in the works and is slated to come out next year.

The family enjoyed the May Powered Geek Box. The boys loved the TMNT items which is timely with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie released on June 3rd. J had a blast opening up the lunch tin and checking over everything. They loved everything in the box except for the Wolverine Marvel String Doll, which looks too much like a voodoo doll for them to enjoy. It’s a fun box for teens and adults to enjoy!
