Dia & Co is a monthly personal styling subscription for plus-sized women. It’s pretty much just like Stitch Fix for plus sizes – Fill out your profile and sizing information, pay a $20 styling fee (refundable against anything you choose to keep), and have 5 items selected by a stylist sent straight to your home to try on. Dia & Co includes free shipping each way. If you keep all 5 items from your box, you’ll receive a 20% discount.
The box itself came packaged very neatly, and included a nice quote on the back of my stylist note.
It included an invoice showing the price of each item plus my potential discount.
In addition to telling the stylists that I am more of a Classic, Casual, and Retro kind of girl, I also let them know that packability is key due to work travel. One of the things I think it interesting is they ask you what you DO NOT want in terms of colors and prints, instead of asking what you DO want. I am curious to see how that plays out over time. It does force me to be more open minded!
What I got:
KIYONNA Joyce Wrap Dress in Black, Size 1X $98
This is a pretty cute and versatile LBD (little black dress, for the uninitiated). I am not big on ruffles, so it is going back, but it is a great packable fabric, nice stretch, very forgiving. It is a great length for me (I am so sick of dresses that are too short – I am 5’10”), and I like the sleeve length. A good try on the part of my stylist.
Sorry this picture is so terrible, if I exposed it less, it was just a black blob. This is definitely the kind of piece that needs to be on a person, not on a hanger or lying flat!
Sachi Pendant Necklace – 18K Gold Plated Cubic Zirconia $38
Cute! I might switch this out to a longer chain – something about it makes me wish it hit me really low, I guess? But it is super versatile, nice and simple.
Modamix Vera Chambray Tank Blue, Size 14 $69
Celebrity Pink Sahara Skinny Jeans in Black, Size 16 $65
I was feeling it from the front, but less so from the back. This short reminded me of my third grade teacher. She always wore her shirts tucked in the front and hanging in the back. Nothing wrong with that (and I am sure it was the style at the time), but this just made me feel like I had a duck tail or something.
See how much longer the back is than the front? Good if you’re trying to hide a problem area, but I am usually ok with my tush peeking out – I have been working out a lot lately, and it is looking pretty good! It’s my stomach that still needs to hide.
The chambray was a great color though. And the fabric was pretty lightweight – good for the summer.
These pants feel like BUTTER. They are soooo soft. I wish they were a size bigger. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but they were painted on. I could barely close them. So, while they had a lot going for them (black, skinny, dreamy feeling) they were a little too short and a lot too tight. For size comparison, I am a pretty solid 16 on the bottom. These are a 16, but they are a tight 16, at best.
Hayden LA Mercer Top in Olive, Size XL $42
Let’s end this on a fun note. A bit of comic relief. I just don’t even know where to start with this one. I get that this style of shirt is “in” – the whole tight sleeves and a boxy, drapey shape, but I think my stylist missed the mark on this one. I am unsure of how this is an XL shirt. Has vanity sizing gone too far and I would need an extra small? Notice in the bottom left photo, there is a ribbon to help it hold it’s shape on a hanger? Why? There is no shape! The neckline is stretched and huge, and the color is pretty much the definition of “meh.”
Well, this month’s box was a bit of hit and miss, but really, as long as there is one hit, it’s a winner! I am looking forward to what next month will bring. I asked for more tops and I am still holding out for more bottoms to get me through the summer.
