Birchbox released big news while I was vaycaying out in the woods with limited cell phone/internet access.  Check out the no more points revamp point system news and a message from Birchbox. I felt that Birchbox could have handled it differently.

A quick peek shows a Benefit brow item. I wonder what else is waiting for me in the box.

Here’s my June Birchbox. First glance tells me that I may use most of the items.

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer
Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

The Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer (.24 oz, $2.75) went on heavier than I expected. The made in the USA Moisturizer has a lot of ingredients that are of interest to me including aloe, hyaluronic acid, rosehip oil, and lavender. I will be following Birchbox’s suggestion of applying it on heavy, leave it on for 15 minutes, and wipe off the excess to add extra moisture to my neck and decolletage area.

Swatch – 3 Medium

I was unable to avoid the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel- 3 Medium ($8.00)  despite not picking a sample. I did not select a sample because I wear zero eye makeup. ZERO. I do not want it, will not use it, and can’t give it to someone else because I swatched it using the wand. It does have eye-catching packaging along with additional information to understand the product. The tiny tapered wand is adorable. The fiber gel is water-resistant and long lasting. It is made in the USA.

clariSEA Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant
clariSEA Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant

I was surprised to see the clariSEA Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant (1 oz, $3.00) because I have received it in a sample pack before. It is also in my June Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I tried it on my chin without any reaction. I expect great things from it because now I have 2 ounces to use up. The ingredients are simple and are gluten-free. It is made in the USA.

Lavnilla Healthy Sport Luxe Face & Body Cream SPF 30
Lavanila The Healthy Sunscreen Sport Luxe Face & Body Cream SPF 30

My tiny sunscreen sample this month is the Lavanila The Healthy Sunscreen Sport Luxe Face & Body Cream SPF 30 (.25 oz, $2.20).  The mineral sunscreen is the type of sunscreen that I prefer to use. I used it while working outside for a few hours and did not experience any burning although I burn easily. I am impressed that Birchbox matched me to this product. I have enough left for one or two more uses and may pick up a full-size depending how it holds up while working outside.

R + CO TWISTER Curl Primer
R + CO TWISTER Curl Primer

Did you know there is such a thing as hair primer? Neither did I until now. I was shocked to receive a hair item that matches my hair type. The R & Co TWISTER Curl Primer (.5 oz, $2.50). It is free of sulfates, parabens, gluten, mineral oil, and petrolatum. It is made in the USA.

I feel as though I need to add a disclaimer. I spent last week in a cabin that had low pressure, hard water with a high sulfur content. My ends tend to bleach out from the sun because I wear a hat in the summertime. I used the primer first which helps reduce frizz, add moisture to my hair, and help my additional styling products work better. I used Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil afterward. I found the primer to be sticky and did make one piece of my hair feel crunchy although it may be that I applied it incorrectly. I have less frizz when I use my oil only. I can live without the primer.

The June Box is my 24th Birchbox. I like everything in it except for the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel. I will be using the other items and may purchase a full size of the Lavanila Sunscreen. It will be interesting to see how Birchbox evolves once the new point system takes effect.

I got the exact same box (I didn’t want the Gimme Brow either). I have curly hair too, and all that curl primer did was make my hair frizzy and made my curls feel crunchy. It was very sticky too, so I didn’t like it. I love the exfoliant though. I use OSEA Ocean Cleanser from the Pearlesque Box, and mix a little exfoliant in with it while washing my face, and it makes my skin really smooth. I have sensitive, dry skin, and had no reaction to it either. I haven’t tried the sunscreen yet, but it sounds like it works well, so I’m looking foward to trying it 🙂

Thank you for letting me know about the primer. I thought maybe I put too much on or applied it incorrectly. Great ideal about using the exfoliant with the OSEA Ocean Cleanser! I will give it a try. 🙂

You’re welcome 🙂 I think that particular company’s hair products just do not work for my hair in general. Captain Blankenship’s Mermaid Hair Sea Salt Spray is really nice if you want soft curls. It was in the Petit Vour box. The Golden Waves version is really pretty too because it gives your curls a golden shimmer.
