May’s Julep Beauty Box theme was Lighten Up! This collection is mostly light chromes with some darker accents thrown in. Julep Beauty Box is Julep’s monthly subscription box — from nail polish to makeup to skincare, they cover everything but mostly focus on nails. It’s completely customisable — you can choose a pre-curated box or pick and choose what you like. You can skip your box or send it to a friend, as well! Brandy sent May’s box to me, and the process is really easy. There’s always a plethora of coupons as well, which is great.

If you’re not a subscriber, you can get a free welcome box with a prepaid subscription (or 50% off if you choose a monthly subscription).  Get a savings of $5 per month if you prepay for 3 months!  Julep is skippable and giftable, so we recommend the longer term. Join by the 18th and you’ll be able to select your first box!

Julep is now CLOSED!

My selections for May:

Tinted Lip Oil Treatment in Covet This is their new lip project, riding on the craze of lip tints coming from Korea.

Pepper (Wonder Maven) This is my favourite colour (I wear a lot of bright blue).

Wilma (Boho Glam) I thought this was a great coppery summer colour!

The lip oil is a very subtle tint, but works nicely at keeping lips hydrated and glossy looking.

I chose three adds ons:

Amanda (Classic With a Twist) I don’t own any cremes, if you can believe that. I wanted something simple I could wear with the glittery topcoat.

Brightening Nail Treatment For anyone who hasn’t tried this yet, it’s not a base coat. Lesson learned. This contains lemon and other ingredients to help improve your whites and pinks over time. The treatment itself is a translucent vivid blue that dries invisible, but is noticeable in sunlight a bit. But if you use it as a base coat, your mani slides off 24 hours later. Oops.

Melody Top Coat This top coat has lots of glitter in it! The glitter is iridescent blue/green/white.

Because I chose three add-ons, I got a free gift. The shimmery gumball was huge!

Becky (It Girl) It looked just like a dark green at first glance, but this is apparently an oil slick duochrome! A bit dark for spring/summer, but still really cool. I don’t have many duochrome polishes.

May’s box was really fun to put together. If you’re a nail polish junkie, or a fan of makeup in general, Julep would be a good fit. The fact that the subscription is so customisable and skippable means you can build your own perfect box every month.

Been keeping an eye on Julep and it seems like everyone does the add-ons every month! They are really generous with their coupons and extras.

I just got polishes this month – Wilma, Regina (nebula pink iridescent chrome) and Francine (seaglass iridescent chrome), plus the holographic gem nail wraps. I’ve been in search of a nice Spring green, but every time I get one that looks like a light green in their pictures, it seems to have a lot of blue in it. Oh well, still pretty colors. I dislike gum, so the gumball was a big fail – didn’t realize it was gum or I’d have saved it for my grandson.
