Haven Paperie May 2016 Subscription Review

Haven Paperie is a monthly stationery subscription that sends you 3-5 cards a month plus the stamps and envelopes needed to send those cards. It is $18 a month and includes shipping. The purpose behind the subscription is to help you connect personally to those you love and to help revive letter writing as a form of communication. Sure, everyone loves getting emails and texts from friends but there is something extra special about reaching into your mailbox and seeing a hand-lettered note from someone you love.

Haven Paperie prints new, original designs each month and makes enough for that month’s subscribers so expect to receive your first package the month following your new subscription. They also have an Etsy shop so if you fall for a particular design you may be able to buy it online (they are also available in a select few shops; the list of shops carrying the cards is available in the FAQS).

The cards sent out in May were specially created for the moms in your life but they really seem like they may be sent to almost anyone you choose.

I received a two-month subscription from my friend Brandy (thanks Brandy!) and I was surprised to see my name printed on this sheet when I opened the package. It made it that more special. Gift subscriptions are available in 2, 3, 6, or 12 month terms.

Heidi Heth, the owner and designer of Haven Paperie, included a note with the theme for the month and even provided a reason to write for the month. For May, she suggested writing a thank you note to someone just because.

Mama Bird Card ($4.50) This sweet card has a mama and baby bird and would be perfect for sending to a new mom or even to one of your kids. My oldest will be going to college in the fall so I will save this to send to her later this year. Includes dark grey envelope. Blank inside.

Thanks for Being You Card ($4.50) As a preschool teacher I keep a lot of thank you cards on hand for the sweet gifts I often receive from my students and I always appreciate adding new ones to my stash. Includes coral envelope. Blank inside.

So Happea Card ($4.50) This is perfect for sending congratulations to someone, especially with graduations happening this month, or basically any “you did it!” moment. Includes kraft paper envelope. Blank inside.

Flower Card (Not available in shop, $4.50?) This last card is thicker than the others and features a colorful design and is square instead of rectangular. This may be used for any reason you can think of. Includes white envelope. Blank inside.

Haven Paperie Pen ($1.00) This special extra was included to celebrate Haven Paperie’s birthday. Black ink.

US Postage Quilled Paper Heart Stamps ($1.88) Finally, there were four stamps that are super pretty and add a special touch to the cards. I usually buy my stamps at the grocery store and they usually only carry the ones with the flag so this is an extra dose of beauty that I wouldn’t have thought of myself.

I really enjoyed this month’s Haven Paperie box! I never have any greeting cards around so this makes it very convenient to dash off a note or thank you when the mood hits.  The pen and stamps also add a special touch to this sub. As for the quality, these cards are made of sturdy, textured cardstock and are durable and high-quality (the square flower card was of the same texture as Hallmark cards). The envelopes are equally well-made. This is a nice way to remind yourself to keep in touch with friends or family!
