Disneyland Park Pack Limited Edition Box May 2016 box

This month of May, Disney Store released a new limited edition box – the Disneyland Memorabilia Park Pack. Each and every item celebrates the opening of the happiest place on earth with a distinct vintage flavor! Disney Park Pack is a monthly mystery pack from the Disney Store and currently a Disney pin subscription box (but I note that it’s called Disney Park Pack: Pin Trading Edition). I’m hoping this special edition box heralds the start of more limited edition packs from Disney!

This box was really fun to unbox and the packaging was fantastic – the folder on the left protects all the printed memorabilia, which was an integral part of the box. There isn’t anything inside the bubble wrap – it’s just there as a spacer. After this box, I think this is what Disney always had in mind when creating the Park Pack – the picnic gingham inside makes more sense. Here’s your box o’ stuff from the parks! I really want to see a Polynesian Resort Park Pack next!

The quote on the back of the folder reads All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them — Walt Disney

The folder actually lists the items in the box and notes that this box was designed to take you back to Day One.

Whether you attended opening day in July of 1955 or simply find yourself enamored by the Disney heritage, this Park Pack will transport you back to the day Walt’s dream became a reality. Each time you view its contents, you will reminisce about Walt’s desire to create a treasured escape for families by blending the ideas of both yesterday and tomorrow. Most importantly, you will realize it truly does require people like yourself to make the dream blossom.

The folder included a set of postcards, a bumper sticker, a sticker pennant, a map, and a reproduction press pass.

This is really neat – and the layout is so distinctive even over 60 years later it’s recognizable to anyone who’s ever been to Disneyland or Disney World.

So much more info on the different lands – and so many fewer food places! I would be ok with Disney bringing back Frito house. This was neat – but it would have been much better if they had the fold-out map and a print of the map! Disneyland Park Pack Limited Edition Box May 2016 (9)

The postcards are really neat. They were originally available at the Park Opening for two cents each!

5″x7″ matted reproduction of pre-opening advertisement for the tv show:  I really wish this had some color on it but It’s neat and perfect for your Disney memorabilia zone. If you purchased this box it’s pretty much guaranteed you have one.

Here’s the first part of show, and you can read more about the specials on Wikipedia.

Disneyland Dedication Medallion – This is modeled after the bronzed dedication plaque from the Disneyland Park opening. It’s a minting of 1200 and encased in plastic. The Certificate of Verification that accompanies it repeats the quote from the folder.

Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America… with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world – July 17, 1955.

You can see the dedication of the plaque in this video! This is a nice playlist of the original footage in multiple parts if you want to see more!

What could be in the box? The statue inside was encased in styrofoam. Disneyland Park Pack Limited Edition Box May 2016 (11)

Tada! It’s a reproduction of Sleeping Beauty’s castle! (Or as my kids call it – Mickey’s Castle). It has a bronze finish and is on a nice thick wooden base. It’s 5″ high. This item really made the box for me. It’s beautiful and I think probably fits with most purchasers’ Disneyana areas. Disneyland Park Pack Limited Edition Box May 2016 (13)

I blew out the lights in this photo so you could see more details.

The back side is completely detailed as well.

Unfortunately my castle is chipped. I sent Disney Store an email and they asked me to call, which I did this morning. They’re getting back to me. I’m sure someone has planned for this eventuality but the customer service representative didn’t quite know what to do with me. Disneyland Park Pack Limited Edition Box May 2016 (12)

Like everything else in the box this is a limited edition of 1200 pieces. I’m hoping that it’s limited to just mine and not a manufacturing defect on all the statues.

This was a cool box. I was happy I got to use my Disney Visa discount (DRVCMEMBER to save 10%!) because there’s not tons of value – with Disney you’re always paying for the exclusivity of the items (just like those park tickets!). However, taking a peek at this Walt & Mickey statue done in the same style – that one is $125 (and would be  great match to this statue) , so basically everything in the box is an extra to the exclusive castle in the box, which is a really nice experience.

What did you think of the Disneyland Memorabilia Park Pack? This box is sold out (and so is the Pin Trading Park Pack) – update – back in stock! but you can check out all the Disney-themed subscription boxes in the directory for a monthly Disney fix!

Heaven in a box. I hope they send a replacement for your castle.
