Everything in my box.

20160520_172848

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Eventone Suncare Moisturizing Sunscreen Balm SPF 15 ($8.50):  This contains cocoa butter, shea butter, and coconut oil to protect skin from the sun.  These butters and oil have individual SPF’s of 6 or less, but there are other ingredients which increase the SPF to 15.  This balm helps to prevent dark spots, uneven skin tone and premature aging.  It goes from a solid to an oil when applied to skin and does not leave a pasty residue.

Luster’s Pink Shea Butter & Coconut Oil 10-N-1 Hot Oil Treatment ($2.99):  I’m not gonna lie, when I first saw this, I had a flashback to my childhood and the famous bottle of Pink Lotion.  My dad got stuck with getting me ready for school and used Pink Lotion, but it was a fail.  My mother never let him use it on me again.  Back to today.  This is a post-shampoo conditioning oil treatment.  The oil uses body heat to warm up.  It contains a blend of shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil, and jojoba oil to provide 10 benefits to your hair and scalp.  I am planning to color my hair this week, and this will be a great treatment to use afterwards.

Rich Radiance Moisturizing & Brightening Shea Butter Treatment Mask ($2.00):  Shea Butter is a natural antioxidant rich in vitamins A and E.  It has been used for centuries to treat severe dry skin, including eczema and psoriasis.  I’m a bit hesitant to use this since I have oily skin, so it will be passed onto a friend who has dry skin and loves masks as much as I do.

Naked Beaute Chamomile & Cucumber Facial Cleanser ($4.13):  This cleanser is currently on sale, dropping the value of the sample by $1.50.  In last month’s Cocotique box, I received a body butter from this brand that I really liked and had high hopes for this.  I was not disappointed.  Thanks to the chamomile, this has a fresh and calming scent.  The formula contains lots of great ingredients for moisturizing and soothing the skin such as aloe, cucumber, chamomile, panthenol, and allantoin.  Also included were details for a Father’s Day giveaway.

Madame C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Frizz Fighting Coconut & Moringa Oils (sold exclusively at Sephora):  Here’s another repeat brand from last month, but I don’t mind.  In the April box, I got products from the Jamaican Black Castor & Murumuru Oils Line that I really liked.  Not only did the products perform well, but the scent was AMAZING.  So, I am really excited to try these out.  The Coconut & Moringa Oils collection has products to block humidity for frizz-free wavy or curly styles.  The scent notes are a bit sweeter – woods, coconut, and sweet vanilla.

  • Curl Conditioner ($2.00) – Soften, detangle, and restore moisture to dry, flyaway hair with this frizz-fighting, humidity-blocking conditioner.  This is a regular post-shampoo conditioner that should be rinsed out.
  • Humidity Block Curl Gel ($4.33) – Shape and define waves and curls with this non-flaking, anti-humidity gel that provides ultimate hold and prevents hair from frizzing for soft, smooth strands.

Harvey Prince Cherie Blossom Perfume Spray ($15.50):  The price noted is the current sale price – 50% off.  I am a huge fan of cherry blossom scented perfumes/body sprays/lotions.  So, this was already a huge score for me before I smelled it.  Plus, I like Harvey Prince fragrances because they are organic and cruelty-free.  This has notes of Somei Sakura (cherry blossom), pink grapefruit, cool musk, and vanilla.  I can’t describe this better than Harvey Price did:

Reawaken the young, romantic you.

The blooming of the Cherry Blossom in Japan signifies the beginning of spring: new beginnings, a new season, and a new day. It’s time to find your own new beginning with Cherie Blossom.

A handsome French man whispers “ma chérie” to his beloved. Her lips are a delicate red, and she smells of sweet cherries. She knows the power of her beauty. She is flawless. She is ageless. Notes of pink grapefruit dance down her neck–the scent of eternal youth. She is his dream.

Cherie Blossom is the epitome of both rebirth in Japan and the power of a classic French seductress. Sweet, soft hints of Somei Sakura mingle with pink grapefruit and vanilla. A cool musk adds a touch of sophistication. Together, these fragrant notes play a song no man can resist. The woman who dares to wear Cherie Blossom feels timeless, and in truth, we look the way we feel.

This month’s box had a value between $39-$56, depending on whether you use full prices or current sale prices.  The Cherie Blossom Perfume Spray accounts for the bulk of the value, but the rest of the box still covers the cost of the subscription.  Cocotique did a nice job curating this box, and I can’t wait to see what else they’ve got in store.  What did you think of the May box?  Let me know by leaving a comment below.
