Rising Sun Snacks: A New Day in Snacking is a monthly themed box of artisan snacks produced with the best organic and/or non-GMO ingredients its chefs can source. Each box contains five handmade snacks. Shipping is free, and discounts off the regular $24.99/month price are offered to those who prepay for either 3, 6 or 12 months at a time. The effective monthly cost for a 12 month prepaid subscription would be $19.99/month.
I was very impressed by how well the box was organized for shipment and how inviting everything looked as soon as I opened the box.
The theme for this month’s box was Celebrate Spring.
The arrival of spring isn’t just about warmer weather. Spring is a mindset–a time of renewal. This month’s curated snacks were selected to reflect the energy, optimism and beauty of spring. So let’s sweep away the dust of winter, breathe in fresh air, and embrace life anew with these delicious all-natural snacks!
April’s box contained the following snacks: Cinnamon Mochaccino Espresso Beans ($6.99), Green Tea Trail Mix ($5.99), Deconstructed Lemon Tart($5.99), Cajun Chickpeas ($4.99) and Cherry Blossom Granola($5.99). Although you would save some money over the retail price for these snacks by joining the month to month club, you would save even more by prepaying for a longer membership. (You can also save on the snacks by buying in bulk.)
The Cinnamon Mochaccino Espresso Beans were very strong. They’d be a welcome snack for coffee-lovers the world over! Produced from organic fair-trade certified espresso beans and organic milk chocolate, you can enjoy these guilt-free. Rising Sun Snack Club recommends adding these to ice cream or even a cup of coffee!
The Cajun Roasted Chickpeas were crunchy and zesty. Neither my daughter nor I could get enough of them! (For what it’s worth, I purchased a bag of Saffron Road’s Bombay Spice Chickpeas a few months ago, and these are much better!) Rising Sun Snack Club recommends using these to add depth of flavor and texture to a salad.
The deconstructed lemon tart contained lemon-coated coconut squares, lemon-coated almonds, lemon pomegranate energy bites and graham crackers. While this snack didn’t scream out lemon tart to me, the lemon flavor was excellent. I ate it happily.
The organic cherry blossom granola was delicious. The tart cherries added a wonderful contrast to the sweet oats. I would happily eat this daily for breakfast.
The green tea trail mix tasted more of mulling spices than green tea. It was delicious. I would happily eat this on the trail or at home for dessert. I was careful to describe it as green tea flavored and not cinnamon/clove/all spice flavored to my son so that I could enjoy the whole bag!
These snacks were absolutely delicious. As an extra bonus, they’re produced with many organic ingredients and all of them are 100% GMO free. Although available in stores in the mid-Atlantic region, they are not available near me outside of their website. While you could purchase the packages individually, subscribing month to month will afford a small discount over individual bag purchases. Prepaying for a longer subscription will offer even more savings. If you like delicious homemade snacks made from whole food, GMO-free (and lots of organic) ingredients, this subscription is for you.
