I’m always amazed at the weight of this box.  In my head I know that books are heavy but it still surprises me. I did have a little chuckle this month since my books were a little askew do I set them down and one was upside down.  It is often times the little things that make me happy.  You can also see the info folded paper that comes each month and from what it says this month is Bookcase.club’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOOKCASE.CLUB box!!!

The Other Side of Midnight by Simone St. James ($12.18) This one looks to be a period piece, a mystery, and a romance. I’m pretty sure that is the trifecta of stories for me.  I can’t wait to check out the story of these friends and lovers.

London, 1925. Glamorous medium Gloria Sutter made her fortune helping the bereaved contact loved ones killed during the Great War. Now she’s been murdered at one of her own séances, after leaving a message requesting the help of her former friend and sole rival, Ellie Winter.

Ellie doesn’t contact the dead—at least, not anymore. She specializes in miraculously finding lost items. Still, she can’t refuse the final request of the only other true psychic she has known. Now Ellie must delve into Gloria’s secrets and plunge back into the world of hucksters, lowlifes, and fakes. Worse, she cannot shake the attentions of handsome James Hawley, a damaged war veteran who has dedicated himself to debunking psychics.

As Ellie and James uncover the sinister mysteries of Gloria’s life and death, Ellie is tormented by nightmarish visions that herald the grisly murders of those in Gloria’s circle. And as Ellie’s uneasy partnership with James turns dangerously intimate, an insidious evil force begins to undermine their quest for clues, a force determined to bury the truth, and whoever seeks to expose it.

Crystal Gardens by Amanda Quick (This is a hardback but I’m only seeing where I can buy a mass market paperback online for $7.99) This is another romance and mystery and sounds really good.

This is the first book in the Ladies of Lantern Street

Evangeline Ames has rented a country cottage far from the London streets where she was recently attacked. Fascinated by the paranormal energy of nearby Crystal Gardens, she finds pleasure in sneaking past the wall to explore the grounds. And when her life is threatened again, she instinctively goes to the gardens for safety.

Lucas Sebastian has never been one to ignore a lady in danger, even if she is trespassing on his property. Quickly disposing of her would-be assassin, he insists they keep the matter private. There are rumors enough already, about treasure buried under his garden and occult botanical experiments performed by his uncle—who died of mysterious causes. With Evangeline’s skill for detection, and Lucas’s sense of the criminal mind, they soon discover that they have a common enemy. And as the energy emanating from Crystal Gardens intensifies, they realize that to survive they must unearth what has been buried for too long.

While last months box had me excited just from the author this month is back to enticing me with the stories.  Both of these books look to be paranormal romantic mysteries and that is a great combination for a story and one that I will love to read.  As with past boxes the books are not new but they are lesser known authors so that means there is less chance that you would already have these books.  I’m really enjoying finding some new authors to add to my faves list and some that I have already purchased more books from.
