Excellent quote for subscription box lovers!
Excellent quote for subscription box lovers!

April is all about spring cleaning. I could not helped but laugh at this quote because we love saying hello to subscription boxes! May they all be useful and beautiful.

The theme for April is Spring Clean.

Wake up, Winter Bears!

Our mission this month is to get you geared up (literally) for the big spring clean, and maybe  even…excited for it? For starters, let’s do some re-framing. Forget tedious chore and think sanctified ritual—you certainly wouldn’t be alone in doing so.

In Iran, for example, the March 21st vernal equinox signals the new year, and involves the  tradition of “shaking the house” — use your imagination. And in China, sweeping the house at  the new year is considered a way of sweeping out any bad luck that may have accumulated in the  past one.

No matter where you are in the world, the opening of tiny new buds in spring suggests a chance  to start fresh. We hope the items in this months box help you to invite a sense of spaciousness into the home in which to nurture whatever fragile, fledgling life you find winking and hopeful beneath the pile of last year.

It’s the third month in the row where not all the items fit inside the basket. I also received the swap out item!

Upcycled Container
Upcycled Container

Upcycled Container from Cambodia ($10.00) I received the swapout item. Each spring box contains either the Upcycled Container or the Palm Basket. I will use this basket at the farm. They are tiny versions of the laundry basket that came in the August 2015 Box.

Scrub Cloth Set
Scrub Cloth Set

Organic Scrub Cloth Set ($10) is made by the Toockie Knitting Co-op which gives financial freedom to women in India. They are suited for light to heavy-duty scrubbing in the kitchen or use it to exfoliate your body. I will be trying them out after I wash them.

Suefce Cleaner and Kitchen Towel
Surface Cleaner and Kitchen Towel

I placed the Clean + Fair Multi-Surface Cleaner ($5.00) and the kitchen towel ($12.00) together to show the size of the kitchen towel. The Clean + Fair Multi-Surface Cleaner is made by Traidcraft, pioneers of the Fair Trade Movement. The main cleaning ingredients are palm and coconut oil from small-scale farming alliances in Ghana and India. I shook the bottle and tried it out on the range hood. It worked great.

The Kitchen Towel matches its big brother, the Pestemal Bath Towel that I received in the January 2016 Benefit Basket. The Atlas Organization in Turkey maintains the tradition of hand-loom cotton. It allows the town of Buldan to keep the tradition alive and earn a liveable wage. I can’t decide whether to use it as a dish towel or a hand towel.

I fell in love with the Hanging Wall Organizer ($30.00) from Peru when I saw the spoilers. ASWAN is an organization that helps the disabled of the Sacred Valley Region of Peru. Members teach each other skills and exchange ideas. The colors and design is beautiful. I can picture my garden tools hanging in there already.

This box is still available until it’s sold out! The total value of this month was about $67. I will be using everything in the box and am ready to start my spring cleaning. The items are beautifully made. It’s another wonderful Globein themed box!
