stitch fix march 2016 box

My March Stitch Fix relied on jewel tones basics and really matched my profile! Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home and hopefully fall in love with. There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).

Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up (right) and dressed down (left) version for each piece of clothing. I do wish these cards were accessible in your Stitch Fix profile. If you email them they’ll send them via PDF. Stitch Fix customer service has been super helpful lately!  I also find the styling cards very helpful. I am not a naturally good-at-fashion person and these help a LOT. Even if I don’t keep the pieces I use them as inspiration – like my own personal fashion editor!

Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one! You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account. Return the pieces you don’t want in the prepaid mailer (free shipping!).

Everything in my fix for March.

Loveappella Rainie Contrast Trim Knit TopLoveappella Rainie Contrast Trim Knit Top ($54) I knew as soon as I saw this that it was going to be absolutely perfect for me (so did my husband!). Love everything about it – the soft fabric, asymmetric hemline, the contrast, and the versatility!  It just begs for the sleek black pants and the statement necklace my stylist noted.

Laila Jayde Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve TopLaila Jayde Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top ($58) Another great piece in a color I love and a silhouette that is so flattering on me. I really love the heathering/space dyed threads because it makes it not so “flat” looking – just gives it the look of a little texture!

Loveappella Jessie Draped Front Terry Knit CardiganLoveappella Jessie Draped Front Terry Knit Cardigan ($64) This one just didn’t work for me. I liked the idea and was glad it was in my fix (because I am the queen of cardigans!), but the space-dyed black and white contrast was too much.

Fate Howardson Striped Lightweight SweaterFate Howardson Striped Lightweight Sweater ($68) This is a nice brand but when I saw it I knew it wouldn’t work – the neckline is too big for my frame (and I would have to wear a special bra).  Although I could fix that with something like the yellow vest they showed in the card, I don’t really love layering my actual clothes (only on top of them). Just my personal style quirks at work!

Pixley Borrego V-Neck SweaterPixley Borrego V-Neck Sweater ($58) On the other hand, these stripes were perfect!! I love the colors and the neckline and it’s still going to be cold here for months.  This piece is sort of like my challenge piece – how can I use my existing clothes (and my style cards for inspiration) to make it look totally different?!

Speaking of Style, Stitch Fix has relaunched its blog to provide tons of style inspiration for you! And you can pin your faves to your Stitch Fix pinterest board to help guide your stylist or ask the Stitch Fix stylists any questions!

This was a FABULOUS fix for me! I kept 3 pieces and I was really thrilled with them. My stylist really focused on colors this month as requested and I couldn’t be happier.

Can I admit that I’m a total Stitch Fix addict and got an extra box in February?

It wasn’t my fave box, so here are some pics. I kept the bag and returned the rest.
