March 2016 Love With Food Subscription Box Review

Love with Food‘s March theme is Love is Real.  This is a fun snack discovery subscription available in three versions:  Tasting box, Deluxe box, and Gluten-free.  This is a review of the Tasting box.  Be sure to check out our reviews of the other March boxes. LOVE IS REAL

There’s nothing more real than love – for family, friends, or even just for life itself.  And what better way to show love in a very real way than with delicious all-natural snacks!  This month, show someone you love how special they are and share these goodies.  Then again, there’s nothing wrong with showing yourself a little love and keeping them!

The information booklet contains a brief description of each item and its ingredients.  There is also a color-coded legend identifying which items are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, organic, and dairy-free.  This is a nice, quick way to identify foods for those with special dietary needs.

No, you are not having vision problems.  I was so excited to try the fig bar that I didn’t check my picture before I ate it.  Sorry.

Strawberry Fig Bar by Nature’s Bakery:  If you’re thinking strawberry Newton, nuh-uh.  The strawberry-fig filling was like a concentrated jam, and the whole wheat cake was very moist.  This is not as sweet as the brand name item, which I like because I can eat more and not need a glass of milk.  So very worth the blurry picture you’re looking at.

Fruit Snacks by Horizon Organics:  You can feel good about these fruit snacks because they are free of artificial colors and preservatives.  I’ll add them to my lunch bag this week.  Fruit snacks always make me feel like a kid again.

Rosemary & Sea Salt Pork Clouds by Bacon’s Heir:  I absolutely love pork skins and am excited to try these.  Rosemary and pork pair well together, so I’m hoping these don’t disappoint.

Original Naan Crisps by Stonefire Flatbreads:  Shaped like little naan loaves, these are a crispy and light cracker.  They would be good paired with a nice dip or cheese.

Pitted Green Olives with Herbs by Olympos:  The information cards says that I should have received a Greek Olive Mix that featured green and kalamata olives.  These were only green olives flavored with thyme and parsley.  Either way I was happy because I can eat olives all day long.  The vinegar overshadowed the flavor of the herbs a bit; they were more an aftertaste.  Totally had me craving a dirty martini.

Peppermint Salt Water Taffy by Salty Road:  I am not a fan of peppermint taffy, so I was definitely surprised when I popped one of these in my mouth before reading the information card.  I liked the play of sweet and salty, and the peppermint wasn’t too strong.  Next time, I’ll read before I eat.

Almond Roca Buttercrunch Toffee with Almonds by Brown & Haley:  Regularly found in its iconic pink canister, this is one of my favorite candies!  Buttery and sweet toffee with chocolate and almonds…what’s not to love?

Lemon Wafer Bites by Dolcetto:  If you like pirouette cookies, then you’ll like these.  They are bite-sized pieces of flaky layers filled with a lemon cream.
