Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription for men. Through it, you’ll receive 3-4 sample items that are smaller versions of what you can order from the Birchbox site, plus a lifestyle item that is full-size. Boxes are $20 per month and you can earn points for reviewing the contents of each box you receive – and, since you can earn 110 points ($11 in the shop) for picking up a yearly subscription, this is a great deal.
The information card no longer gives the details on each item. See your box at birchbox.com/mybox. The theme for March was “Stock in Trade” and included products to give your everyday regimen an upgrade with tried-and-true fundamentals.
Subscribers are given a sample choice opportunity via email/you account to choose a lifestyle item. The lifestyle item I selected for this month was the
J Lab Audio Custom Fit Earbuds with Mic ($20). The microphone worked well, and nobody I spoke to asked me to repeat myself, even on a very windy day. Although the cord itself looked a little flimsy, I got good sound quality from them, and buds can be manipulated to really find the right fit for your particular ear shape…
I also received a small vial of CoSTUME NATIONAL Eau de Parfum SOUL ($2.25). I have stuck to the same cologne for 20 years now, but I think a lot of people would enjoy this scent – which is actually sort of surprisingly delicate and not musky or too sharp, like most men’s fragrances…
Next to the earbuds, my favorite product belonged to (MALIN+GOETZ), who impressed me greatly with their 0.5 oz (15ml) grapefruit face cleanser ($2) and their 0.1 oz (3ml) vitamin e face moisturizer ($1.15). They smelled great, they felt great on my skin, and I liked what I saw in the mirror after using them.
I also received a 1 oz (30ml) bottle of WAKE UP Body Wash with rosemary and lemongrass by PLANT ($2.11). I’ve never been a body wash fan, but I found the scent to be pleasant and my skin felt clean whenever I used it.
Finally, we come to the Teddy Boy Matte Wax ($2.22), a small (0.5 oz?, no measurement was listed) jar of hair wax from Anchors Aweigh Hair Co. I couldn’t use it because my hair is too long, so I passed it along to a friend who said he was satisfied with it.
Overall, I was happy with the contents of this subscription box. And, as in my last birchbox review, the contents were worth $29.73 (adjusted for the list price of the products in their standard sizes), which is a great return on the $20 it would cost to receive the package.
