The back of the card features a workout — this month is “March Madness Crossfit Workout”  There were a lot of super tasty things in this box and I enjoyed most of what was included  Let’s dig in!

Bulletproof Coffee:  The first thing I noticed in the box was the brown paper bag.  I had been wanting to try bulletproof coffee – the podcasts I listen to and the blogs I read rave about it, but I’ve been too lazy to get any of the MCT (medium chain triglycerides) oil to add to it.  So, yeah – I was super excited to get a chance to try this out!  20160319_190414

In the bag was a sample of ground coffee (I usually grind my own – I’m a coffee snob…but I understand why they send ground in a subscription box that’s not a coffee subscription) and a sample of XCT oil, plus information and instructions to make bulletproof coffee.  I made some up and it tasted good – mostly like coffee, but you could tell there was some added fat in there.  I didn’t instantly feel super-human (an impression I’ve gotten from some podcasts and blogs) but I did like it enough to want to try it for a while and see if I like it in the longer term.

Oh! Bars:  I wanted to love this bar.  The ingredients were simple & awesome – banana, mint, pineapple, date.  Super clean, super easy.  The texture was chewy, but not unpleasant.  The problem was that I am not a fan of mint + banana.  I love banana anything (and love loved the chocolate banana bar below) and I love mint, especially paired with chocolate, but the two flavors together didn’t really do it for me.  The company (OH!ganics) does make other flavors and maybe those are tasty, but this one was just a little disappointing to me.

Crazy Richard’s PB Burst:  I eat peanut butter for snack all the time, so this was right up my alley.  Crazy Richard’s PB Burst has decaffeinated green tea extract, natural astaxanthin, and a B vitamin complex added to the peanuts — no salt, no sugar, nothing else.  I didn’t notice these additions, but could have used a little salt; otherwise, the flavor was good and the consistency was very nice.  I did like the handy tube with a couple of servings of peanut butter in it — super easy to take along on a long bike ride or hike.

Back Attack Snacks Chocolate Firecracker Almonds:  These almonds were very tasty — coated in cocoa powder and cayenne.  Unfortunately, they were also super messy – I ended up with cocoa powder everywhere!  Although I loved the taste (nom – spicy chocolate!!!), I couldn’t really see using these as a practical snack, just because of the mess factor.  I’d have to be somewhere that I could keep washing my hands and not worry about getting cocoa dust every where.  Not for me – which is too bad, because otherwise I would have really loved these.

Fru-Licious Ice Pops:  Oh my yum.  These are almost like those little artificially colored & flavored sugar-water ice sticks that you ate when you were a kid, but these are made with juice and no junk.  There were two pineapple-flavored ice pops in my Fitsnack box and they were awesome.  A great flavor and a fun little treat.  Definitely going to order a box of these for this summer!

Kutoa Chocolate Banana Bar:  While I didn’t love the banana-mint bar above, I absolutely adored this one.  Chocolate and banana go together like peanut butter and jelly, chips and salsa, you get the picture.  This bar was aaaa-maz-ing.  Yum!  OK, I guess I should also tell you that it is full of good healthy stuff and is also from a company that has a mission to give back, providing food to children all over the world from their profits.  I like that aspect a lot too, but even if you have a compelling cause, your food has to taste good and be good.  Kutoa wins on all counts.

Ips Chips:  (As of this post, their website is under construction, but you can purchase Ips from Amazon here.)  When I ate the first bag of these chips, I had no idea what they were made from.  They tasted like many other puffed chips on the market, but exceptionally good.  The salt & pepper flavor is very addictive.  Before I ate the second bag, I looked up what they were — egg whites and corn!  And still yum!  Very good taste that satisfies those salty/crunchy munchies…c’mon you know you get those munchies.  Anyway, these are a nice way to satisfy those munchies because these chips have protein, helping with satiety.  I liked these a lot and want to try their other flavors (like barbecue and aged cheddar).

Love Grown Power O’s:  Apparently my theme for this box was “eat first, look later.”  I ate this tasty little box of cereal and then I read the box.  It’s made of beans.  Beans?  Beans.  No wheat, no corn. Beans.  Hmmm.  Didn’t taste like beans at all, which I guess is the point, because who wants beans for breakfast?  Not me, but I could eat these chocolatey O’s all day.  (I bet you’re wondering how I missed that they were made with beans until after I finished…well, I was hungry.  Aren’t all runners hungry people?   And I guess that’s one thing I really like about these Fitsnack boxes – when I’m hungry, I can grab something out of the box and it’s going to be good food and it’s probably going to be tasty.  That’s a win!)

Lesser Evil Good Cookie:  Fitsnack has included Lesser Evil food before and it’s been good.  The Good Cookie (this one was Cafe Mocha) was in the same ballpark.  The flavor was good – kind of like an oatmeal cookie with mocha chips.  It was a little more crumbly (or drier) than I like my cookies personally, but it had a good taste and satisfied my sweet craving just fine.

Another great box from Fitsnack!  Yum!
