Dia & Co is a monthly personal styling subscription for plus-sized women. It’s pretty much just like Stitch Fix for plus sizes – Fill out your profile and sizing information, pay a $20 styling fee (refundable against anything you choose to keep), and have 5 items selected by a stylist sent straight to your home to try on. Dia & Co includes free shipping each way. If you keep all 5 items from your box, you’ll receive a 20% discount.

The box itself came packaged very neatly, and included a nice quote on the back of my stylist note.

It included an invoice showing the price of each item plus my potential discount.

In addition to telling the stylists that I am more of a Classic, Casual, and Retro kind of girl, I also let them know that packability is key due to work travel.  One of the things I think it interesting is they ask you what you DO NOT want in terms of colors and prints, instead of asking what you DO want.  I am curious to see how that plays out over time.  It does force me to be more open minded!

What I got:

Vila Keyhole Long Sleeve Blouse in Black Iris, size XL $40

Style & Co Slim Dress Pants in grey, size 16W $56.50

I love the color of this top, and it is a nice lightweight material good for layering.  Sadly, it was not made for someone with my shoulders or bulging biceps (I have been working out!). While it fit the right amount of loose around my waist, I felt like I was going to rip the arms and shoulders when I moved.  I needed help getting out of it. If it had fit better on top, it would have been a keeper, so marks for style, but points off for fit.

These pants were super comfortable – like, lounge around all day in them comfortable.  I attribute this to the generous elastic side panels at the waist. But, they just don’t fit into my wardrobe needs – they feel too casual for when I have a work trip and am on site with clients, but way more dressy than I need when I am in the office (I could wear jeans and a t-shirt and be dressed up).  The good news is, they are a brand available at Macy’s, so, if nothing else, I just learned that they fit and I can always look for others like them later if I change my mind.

Fashion to Figure Floral Kimono Size 1X $34.90

This one is a bit out there for me – I am more of a cute top and cardigan kind of girl, but I gave it a shot.  I have no idea how a kimono top is supposed to fit, but this felt big in the shoulders, and I wished it had a belt or sash.

Brave Soul Cropped Knit Sweater Size 14 $73

Well, this one was a swing and a miss.  I just felt really weird in this style and shape.  It didn’t feel flattering to me (although you are welcome to tell me otherwise!) and the shoulders were a little snug (so weird that this happened with two pieces – am I that buff?).  The weight of the knit was nice though – a good mid weight for warmer climates.

Jules Smith Americana Classic Earrings $28

Jules Smith Americana Classic Earrings

It doesn’t get any more simple than these – they give the impression of being hoops, but they have something different going on, too.  They will go with everything, and yet they weigh nothing!  I’ll admit, I wouldn’t have bought these in the store for $28, but they are effectively $8, since I consider the styling fee to be money already spent on the fun of having clothes sent to me.

I am going to send more feedback to my stylists – I need longer tops. Next month I am hoping for a bunch of jeans, since the weather is warming up and I need some new ones to keep me comfortable in the crazy air-conditioning of the South.  Plus they will look all cute with my new earrings.
