Dearest Whiskers Cat Subscription Box Review – February 2016

Dearest Whiskers is a new cat box that came out in December 2015 and is owned by Katie Haefner, a certified vet technician. She introduced the box in response to parents seeking healthier toys for their adorable kitties. Kio, her cat, is the official product tester. Dearest Whiskers focuses on providing handmade artisan cat toys, natural treats, cat supplies, accessories and homeopathic items. Expect 3-4 items each month.

The items are nicely wrapped in tissue paper and twine with the information card on top.

February’s theme is “I Love Your Guts.” It’s an unusual theme that an owner with indoor/outdoor cats can appreciate.

Here are the items for the February 2016 box! The kitties were circling the table wanting to try the treats.

The cats could not get enough of the Uncle Larry’s All Natural Pet Treats 100% Chicken Liver ($9.99). The link is to the lamb version on Amazon. It is a one ingredient treat that is made in Oregon with USA meat. The cats loved this treat! I need more!!! They could smell it as soon as I took it out of the box and came running. I had to hide the remaining treats because they were stalking the bag.

The Decapitated Rat Head Catnip Toy ($5.00) is made with organic catnip. The ears are not as visible in my photos as they are on the website photo. It is made of cotton and polyester. The best part of the toy is that it is stuffed with 100% organic catnip. The 2.5-inch long toy is made in North Carolina.

The Anatomical Heart Toy by Meowadays ($16.00) also contains organic catnip! The handmade item is made from USA sourced yarn. I couldn’t resist looking through the Meowadays shop. The jellyfish catnip toy is amazing. I love the details.

My kitties visited the farm, and the boys came back with colds. They were not in a playful mood. They did give it their best try. I know they will love the toys once they are feeling better. They love anything with organic catnip and will ignore the cat toys made elsewhere to play with made in USA organic catnip toys.

Puss in Boots came over to the box to check it out. Look at the blue veins on the flipside of the Anatomical Heart Toy.

Zelda (mommy) and Puss in Boots (son) are eating the Uncle Larry’s Freeze-Dried Chicken Liver Treats. Everyone loved them including Bella, the Rat Terrier.

Yes, I have a Whiskers. She needs to be in this review! She is playing with the Anatomical Heart Toy. She is mom to Zelda and grandmom to Puss in Boots. She’s Momma Whiskers to all the kitties.

Whiskers is playing with the Rat Head Catnip Toy.  The boys are the ones that liked to ham it up for the camera and were still recovering from their colds.

I coaxed Midna over and turned off the lights that I use for photos. Whiskers ended up giving her a bath.

Puss in Boots and Garfield each took a toy and fell asleep. They are almost recovered from their colds. Garfield did not want to give up his Anatomical Heart Toy when I moved him.

No cat review is complete without Little Lamb. Little Lamb is stepping on his BFF Puss in Boots. His sniffer is not working because of his cold. He did look over the toys and will be back to playing with toys and looking cute soon enough.

I do believe that there is room in the cat box market for this type of box. The value of the box is $30.99 which is above the price of the box. I love this box because of the high-quality treats and toys. I prefer to give my kitties made in the USA treats that have excellent ingredients. I much prefer toys that contain organic catnip or catnip sourced in the USA. It’s not always possible to find what I am looking for at the local pet shops which is where Dearest Whiskers comes to the rescue!  I’m also impressed with how Dearest Whiskers curated the “I Love Your Guts” theme with a heart, a rat head, and chicken livers! Well done.
