Arrrgh Mateys… February’s Bramble Box had a pirate theme! Bramble Box is a monthly subscription box sending imaginative play kits to kids every month. You’ll get fun gender neutral play kits around a theme every month that will inspire your kids to creatively explore. Play, role play, and pretend play are all essential to achieving developmental milestones.

The packaging has been updated.  It used to be a relatively plain box with a sticker of the fox logo — now the box has printed graphics of the fox logo and images of some of the dress-up themes.

Bramble Box always comes neatly wrapped in tissue. I love Bramble Box fox — he’s so calm and contemplative.

The box came with all the basics needed for a pirate adventure.

A hat, pirate patch craft kit, a DIY map, and a pile of gold doubloons in a skull & bones pouch completed the theme, providing some reusable dress-up items to accompany the main crafts.

Ye be workin’ on that pirate squint and scowl.

The map was pre-aged and looked just like a treasure map, except for the lack of actual landmarks.  The kids drew in locations from our home, creating a treasure hunt to find the chest and gold coins.

A self-adhesive mini-craft allowed us to complete our pirate outfit with a skull and crossbones eye patch.

Much better… this is how pirates hide their inability to wink.

Supplies were included to make a shoulder parrot!

The kit included real feathers to give our friend a realistic look.

The most involved craft was a DIY rainbow treasure chest.  The box included pre-dyed crafting sticks, a bottle of craft glue, and some self-stick jewels to decorate our chest.

The craft was simple enough for our son, who is five, to complete with minimal guidance.

Our kids loved making this and it was a lot of fun.

Our kids love playing pirate, and this box had everything needed to have a great treasure hunt.  We have had a little trouble with screen addiction lately, so this was a relief, and a great way to leverage their love of pirates to get them to spend some time on some fun crafting and pretend play!
