Allure Beauty Box is a beauty subscription that sends 5 deluxe samples – makeup, skin, hair, accessories, and fragrance.  Samples are chosen by Allure magazine editors. The new name is confusing, because what’s now known as Allure Beauty Thrills was formerly the Allure Beauty Box.

There’s a mini magazine in every box and it’s very editorial – the Allure editors pick every product and give tips on use and why they like it. Or why you might not.

Everything in the box!

Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder ($5) Superfine finishing powder! The only thing with this powder is that it shows up in photos (I don’t know why MUFE sells it, calls it professional, and then adds HD on top of it). So it’s a fail for that but a win for all other uses, including daily life.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Lipcolor ($10) I think this is a sponsored product – it’s not discussed in the mini-mag and an ad for it is on the back cover. Regardless, I liked the product, and the color. You use the gloss and then the balm on top. I swatched it below. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it was a sponsored product but I went looking to see what order I was supposed to apply the two parts in. I think they should have been more up front about it.

Macadamia Professional Ultra Rich Moisture Cleansing Conditioner ($5.20) I love co-wash and Macadamia hair products, so this sulfate- and paraben-free color safe cleansing conditioner is a win. I can only use a teeny bit but it worked really well and left my hair shiny and soft.

Julep Charcoal Konjac Sponge ($12) This konjac sponge is perfect for mild exfoliation, especially with a foaming cleanser! If you haven’t tried a konjac sponge, you really should! They work great and are gentle, too.

Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets ($3) I love this solution for daytime frizzies! Just unfold a sheet and swipe on your hair, and you’re set. Perfect for air travel, when I tend to look like I’ve stuck my finger in a socket!

dpHue Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse ($4) This is designed to clear out old gunky residue from your scalp and hair. It works well but definitely smells like ACV.

Cargo Blush and Bronzer Combo (~$10.50) Individually, the Cargo Blush in Catalina costs $26, while the Cargo Bronzer in Medium is sold for $29. This is a great way to try these products out. I love the clear, clean pink on my skin, and the bronzer adds a touch of shimmer without a lot of color if you’re applying it normally. You can definitely build though – there’s plenty of pigment!

This was a good box, but there’s a little room for improvement. Cargo is a frequent box item, the HD powder has some issues, and the lipgloss was an undisclosed sponsored item. The box was useful though, with lots of value – around $50!

Most bloggers act like Allure can do no wrong (recently it seems that way at least) and I appreciate your honest opinions in all your reviews.

This still seems like a good box for the price most months and I’m trying really hard not to subscribe since I have way too many products and 3 other Beauty subs right now…! 🙂
