IMG_1868Snack Sack is a monthly subscription service that sends boxes filled to the brim with a combination of organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, all-natural, vegan and fair-trade snacks to your door every month!

IMG_1869Upon opening the box, I was astounded at all that it contained.

IMG_1873I love how, in addition to the plethora of snacks, the box includes coupons toward your next purchase. I know I’m going to use them!

Each month the box arrives with a list of its contents. This month, one substitution had been made: instead of “Dark Chocolate Razz,” I received Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Candies. They were delicious. I love how easy Snack Sack makes it to identify the gluten free, vegan and non-GMO snacks!

These Mango Chia Bites by Chosen Foods (6 for $7.99 or 12 for $12.99) would make a great trail snack. They’re a hearty, nutritionally dense treat. The mango is a welcome counter balance to the nuts and chia seeds.

These maple pecan cookies by Ona ($2.99) are soft in texture but rich in flavor. They’re delicious. They’re also gluten-free, soy-free, grain-free and dairy-free. In other words, although I probably wouldn’t have ever bought these in the store, they’re delicious, and I’m glad to have tried them. The two cookies didn’t last long. I had one to write the review. My son happily ate the second.

I’m delighted I got to try this substitution! Little Secret’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter candies ($2.50) took me back to my childhood. They taste like Reese’s Pieces, only better! If only I had been watching a movie while chowing down on these, my reminiscence would have been complete!

Of all of the delicious selections this month, these Cinnamon Sugar Crunchy Cookie Chips by Hannahmax Baking (4 for $17.96) were my favorite. It’s a good thing I was only sent one bag; had I been sent 4, I probably would have eaten them all in one sitting. They are crunchy and sweet with the perfect balance of cinnamon and sugar. The word “chip” is a misnomer.

While I enjoyed the Pipcorn Kettle Mini Popcorn (4 for $26) very much, it tasted just like regular popcorn to me. Still, it was quite yummy, and my son and I enjoyed eating it during one of our many snack stops atop Enchanted Rock over the weekend.

These Veggie Stix ($0.87) are a nice non-GMO alternative to potato chips. They’re crunchy and salty and pretty filling. My son and I brought these with us to munch on during our decent down Enchanted Rock.

IMG_1942He was a big fan of these. I eventually had to cut him off so we could head back to our car.

Natural Sin’s Crispy Pineapple Thins ($4.07) are thinly sliced pieces of dried pineapple. I enjoyed these very much. They had the flavor of pineapple juice, yet were light and crunchy. For the first time ever, I was able to enjoy my pineapple without a side of dental floss!

Columbia Gorge Delights Apple Raspberry Just Fruit Bar ($1.69) has an apple base. Its texture reminds me of the 365 Organic Fruit Leathers, only this bar is about 4 times as thick. It’s very yummy. I happily ate it quickly, all in the name of writing this review, of course!

The Jackson’s Honest Heirloom Purple Potato chips (6 for $29.94) were, hands down, the best potato chips I have ever had! They were absolutely delicious! The package says they were made with organic coconut oil, but I couldn’t discern even a hint of coconut in them. They were just oily, salty, crunchy goodness wrapped up in a convenient bag. Yum! As a side bonus, purple potatoes have four times more antioxidants than white potatoes.

Nourish Snacks Monkey Love ($2) is a delightful combination of coconut, chocolate and granola rolled up into little balls. These would make a nice mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack. While the coconut surprised me, I loved the depth of flavor it offered to these balls.

Cosmos Creations Caramel Apple Crisp (15 for $36.99 at Costco) were my least favorite of the bunch. I passed them off to my son who devoured them. Made from puffed corn without hulls or kernels, it had the texture of cereal. For me, though, the real problem was that these were just way too sweet. Eating them reminded me of eating children’s cereal out of a box, which just isn’t that appealing to me. My son, however, thought they were fantastic!

I loved how Snack Sack delivered a ton of relatively healthy snacks, yet each one was substantially different from the other. Some would be perfect for lunchboxes, others for treks, and still others for lounging around the house. Some were extremely sweet; others were salty. Some were soft, and others were crunchy. Some were made of fruits, and others were principally nuts. In short, whatever your snack persuasion, Snack Sack would deliver. We can’t wait to see what they send us next month!
