My mailer came with my fragrance and two cards. They accidentally included the women’s cards in my box. I’m assuming the instructions for the Men’s boxes are less pink and probably say “Hey Handsome!”
Scentbird’s Fragrance Editors pick a new scent every month to feature. The February scent is Boss Bottled Night. If you’re unsure what to select for your next scent, this can serve as some inspiration.
The BOSS man is primed to succeed—competitive, driven, and ambitious. His daily preparation rituals are integral to his personal quest for success and BOSS has become an established part of his daily armor. BOSS BOTTLED NIGHT is destined to become his secret after-dark weapon, instilling him with the same compelling presence that underpins his success by day. The scent features an intensely seductive composition of purposeful, aromatic top notes combined with a rich, woody base.
The top notes combine the contrasting energies of bittersweet birch leaves with the natural aromatic freshness of lavender, finished with a touch of lemon leaves. The heart of the fragrance, blended with a new type of masculine florals, combines green and nutty cardamom with a synthesis of sweet jasmine and African violet. A new accord at the base, Louro Amarelo, replicates a rich and exotic new wood note discovered in the Amazon. It lends body to the fragrance, as well as a natural energy when finished with a traditional musk and sandalwood infusion.
Your first month will include a little cologne vial case and velvet holder. Scentbird decants the cologne from the manufacturer’s bottle to a little glass vial that fits in the sprayer. The colognes are 100% authentic, and you’ll receive an 8ml sprayer. A card comes with the vial demonstrating its use. You just twist it to spray. Again, I assume the Men’s instructions use an analogy other than lipstick to describe the function of the sprayer. The case looks nice and is great for protecting your cologne when tossed in a gym bag or dopp kit.
For January I selected ODIN 07 Tanoke. When filling out my profile, I noted that I liked woody and spicy fragrances.
Top notes are ginger, bitter orange and black pepper; middle notes are guaiac wood, incense and nutmeg; base notes are brazilian redwood, patchouli and black musk
Amid the wilderness of coastal hinterland comes a woody blend grounded in soaring redwoods and warm musk. The core of Tanoke brings forth the balsamic resin of wet guaiac wood wrapped in smoky incense. Crisp black pepper, spicy ginger and bitter orange hover the surface with invigorating freshness.
Immediately upon application, I noticed the orange and pepper notes. They mellowed after a short while, and the combination of guaiac wood and patchouli created an almost sandalwood and cedar note. The citrus and wood meld into a cedar-y, sun-soaked presence with a slightly floral quality.
I like that I can queue up the fragrances that interest me, and I can preview the composition and profile of each to see if it matches my tastes. Each bottle has a ton of fragrance, and they are the real deal from the best designers, so you can try their newer offerings or revisit popular classics. FYI – there is no gender divide with this subscription – ladies can add men’s fragrances and vice versa, and you can share if you’d like, or get a second subscription if you find it impossible.
