Comic Block is a monthly subscription box from the Nerd Block Family of geek crates! With this subscription you’ll receive 3 fresh comic books, a shirt, and other goodies each month.
This box is great and there is special care for the contents. Comic books are wrapped in plastic and/or bagged and boarded. Books are protected at the bottom of the box with the soft t-shirt at the top. In between, is a nice little collectible. Upon unboxing, I was instantly excited as I saw the Professor Xavier shirt. Here is a look at all of the items from inside the January Comic Block!
Comic Block includes a card to explain the contents of the subscription box.
We get a couple of X-Men items in this Marvel heavy offering. I’ve been such a huge fan of the X-Men and how their comics reflect society.
Xavier’s Gym for Gifted Youngsters T-Shirt. I am really liking the black t-shirt with yellow and white. Professor X as the logo is a nice touch.
Red Sonja #1 – Variant Cover ($3.99 for the retail cover) Dynamite Entertainment. Comic Block is known for including first issues in their subscription boxes and January 2016 is no different. Magaurite Bennett is writing about this strong female warrior. This is the only non-Marvel related item but that’s okay as Red Sonja can definitely hold her own!
Silver Surfer #1 ($3.99) Marvel Comics. Dan Slott continues to write about Galactus’ former herald in this new ongoing series from Marvel. Michael Allred brings his unique art style to the book. Laura Allred is in charge of colors. The cover alone makes this book worth picking up.
Uncanny X-Men #1($3.99) Marvel Comics. Looks like villains are in charge as far as the mutants go when it comes to the X-Men. Cullen Bunn is the writer for this new series with art by Greg Land. I will be reviewing Silver Surfer #1 and Red Sonja for my website where I post my comic book reviews. There is currently a review of Uncanny X-Men #1 here.
Carnage Print by Lee Howard. Such an awesome piece of art. Terrifying yet beautiful.
In all, Comic Block is an absolutely remarkable value. The three comics were $3.99 each with one comic having an exclusive cover from Comic Block and it cannot be found anywhere else. Throw in the t-shirt and the art print and the value is well over the $19.99 monthly cost. For someone like me who loves comic books and t-shirts, this is an incredible value.
